How many of us out there? With regards to black tanks, our 28a fills the black tank frequently since it's tied to the bathroom sink and we do a lot of hand washing, teeth brushing, etc. We do regularly fill the grey tank and have a "blue boy" in case we need it but it's never been an issue for weekend camping. If I was boondocking for a week or more then the capacities are woefully small for both tanks. As for the 19g model, why wouldn't anyone just plumb in separate waste valves for each tank? Seems like this would be an easy way to solve some issues.Re: Buying a Former Rental Class C. How many of us out there?Hi All, Just a quick update on my Cruise Canada Majestic 28a (Unit #99) :) I bought in the spring of 2018. We sold our Cummins Diesel truck and 5th wheel and after lots of research flew in to Calgary and picked out this CA Majestic 28a out of 13 units with 100,000 miles on the clock. The dealer was great and happily fixed up all the issues we noticed on the first walk through and some that we didn't find. They did a truly spectacular job on reconditioning it. As part of the deal, they threw in a 16 foot manual awning for zero extra charge and paid for my flight, bonus !! We got her home and removed all the fabric pieces and washed them all up along with the upholstery covers. ahh much better! We also ripped out the mattress and rugged cover and sold it on Kijiji for $100 and purchased a memory foam RV Mattress from Wayfair for a great deal, cool. While I was at the bedroom end I installed an additional AC Outlet on the RH side of the bed as it only had one on the LH side and one of us uses a CPAP and needed the extra outlet. The bedroom/Toilet wall was loose so I removed the skin, braced it up and re-sealed it nice and tight. Done. I removed the over cab bedding since it's only 2 of us and dogs and this makes a nice storage place for the travel kennels! I also grabbed a Samsung 32" TV and separate Blu-Ray for entertainment duties and store it above as well. I'm looking for a good antenna and RV TV mounting solution if anyone has ideas? I am just using a portable antenna that plugs inside the Shore Power area and it runs up to the coach and TV. I also had to wire up the rear bumper plug for proper operation so I can haul our Toad (2002 VW Turbo Beetle) with no issues. Pro's: - Zero Engine or Transmission issues! - Generator has only 92 hours on it and has also been dead reliable. - Easy to drive and park. - Power to spare pulling our Dolly and Beetle - Plenty of storage space outside and easy access to it. - Complete mechanical refurbishment, tires, shocks, Tie rods, bushings, plugs, etc along with the 1 year warranty can't be beat. - Price can't be beat! Cons: - After using it for a year the Fridge quit working on 110V late in the season so I got another Dometic control module on Amazon for $100 and that fixed it up. - We also have a rattling roof vent over the top bed that drives me nuts, this will be replaced this season along with adding a Fantastic fan over the bathroom area. - The T-Moldings frequently come loose and look bad. I think a gluing or replacement is in order but this is not a deal breaker. - I also noticed that the top front clearance lights tend to leak in heavy rain, a tube of White Quad Sealant and a ladder and this issue is also resolved. - Poor power and hill climbing ability in the mountainous areas. - Transmission hunts gears and is slow to shift back to 5th gear. The warranty is now over and first thing I did this season was deal with the engine/trans drive ability issues. I did the research and called up 5 Star RV Tuning and got their 87 Octane RV tune. I can't say enough about this upgrade !! This is how an RV should drive and shift, in fact I don't even miss my diesel now. Stock it felt like driving with the E-Brake on but now she's like a normal pickup and it's using less fuel to the tune of about 1.5 MPG improvement. I've only done a 3 day trip so far this season with the tune and wow, there's no going back. If there are any issues with the engine and trans performance move this upgrade to the top of your list. I also am sick of the flighty steering and have installed a dual steering stabilizer but have yet to test it, the factory unit was indeed toast. I replaced the stock shower head with an Oxygenics unit and this is a definite "must do" for any RV owner! On order are the Fantastic fan and 2 new roof vents to be installed before my next trip mid June. We also want to add a coach door window, some under awning tube lighting, a backup camera and maybe tie this in with a Double DIN stereo with Bluetooth/NAV upgrade later this year. Custom Decals are also in the works once we decide on a design. All in all over 8000 Miles (13,000 KM) I can honestly say this will go down as one of the best RV purchase decisions I've made in many years. I recommend and refer people to Cruise Canada to anyone who has come up and asked me about the unit and how reliable has it been after seeing it. I could have easily paid $20K more for the same unit in non-rental form but I can do one heck of a lot of upgrades for $20K and save the difference to pay for fuel and more camping by buying from CC/CA! I had to hook mine up properly on mine as CC did not wire my bumper connector before delivery. Post up a pic if you can.Re: Buying a Former Rental Class C. How many of us out there?I asked the guy about the tow wiring harness and the salesman told me that there is no +12 or brake wire installed. This tells me it's just a drop wire off the tail lights. I also have no standard 4 or 7 pin connector on the 28A, just the box with spring terminals for wiring up lights. I'll be fishing a pair of wires from the battery and I'll install the brake controller myself.Re: Buying a Former Rental Class C. So a two week turnaround time. I got my 28A on April 6th and still no title yet. I did receive my check for the Airfare though. :)Re: Buying a Former Rental Class C. Being from Calgary I hated him...and yet loved his unequaled skill level at the same time. :) Off Topic, but you'll appreciate. My son is 9, and has been playing hockey since he was 3. He had to have jersey 99. Everybody figured it was for Gretzky. Nope, my race car is #66, and so as to not copy me, he wanted his go-kart to be 99. The kart number then translates to hockey. #99 is still very much loved up here in Edmonton. We now have Connor McDavid and we still can't get into the playoffs! LOL As for the RV part, It's coming along nicely and we are now outfitting it with all our goods and I think I'll test all the coach systems completely this week as it's still winterized. I noticed that CC uses an air compressor and not anti freeze in their units, I haven't found all the drains and valves and it looks like I'll have to add in an anti-freeze "T" or learn how to use the air compressor to do it. Any one have tips for me on this one? Also, underneath where the old decals were is nice and shiny and the older exposed areas are oxidized a fair amount, is it possible to polish the exposed areas up enough so that the old decal outlines are not so noticeable? I'm also working with a decal company and I'm going to remove the Majestic Branding and go with something else, I just haven't decided what graphics to use. The wife and I call the unit "The Rental" as we usually find a name for all of our RV's but I don't want the RV to scream RENTAL to the world. Maybe we should decal it in Oilers colors. :DRe: Buying a Former Rental Class C. How many of us out there? So I did in fact bring my unit home on April 6th. I'm the proud owner of a Majestic 28A from Calgary and it lives up In Edmonton and you guys aptly gave it Unit #99, get it? ;) Anyway, I flew in to pick it up and #99 it was ready to go. I went over it pretty closely and found several items that needed work and they complied right away. I asked to borrow their shop ladder and walked around on the roof inspecting seams, etc and it needed a little work which they fixed on the spot. #99 needed to pass a out of province inspection before I could register it in Alberta and a lot of things were done to make it comply. The short list was 6 new tires, 4 new shocks, Front & rear brakes, stabilizer bushings, an outer tie rod end, new spark plugs, exhaust manifold studs/bolts, oil change, transmission oil change and a new windshield. The mechanical work was done at a 3rd party facility and the coach refurbishment happened right at Cruise Canada in Calgary. The coach part is where the downfall was as there were a lot of things like loose "T" moldings, chipped boards, globs of silicon everywhere, and it was overall pretty dirty inside. The good things they did was replace the sofa, Fridge shelves, stove grates, picnic table, Dinette table and told me they tested all the on-board systems. I found lots of debris in places that were probably there since 2013! I also asked them since my first camping trip was 6 weeks away would they still honor anything I found wrong since it's still below zero here with no hope of me trying the tanks and systems until then, they assured me I would be looked after. I read lots of warnings on this thread and am treading cautiously here but they were indeed sincere and have given me no reason to doubt them. CC also did a very poor job with a fiberglass repair on the exterior and it will have to be redone properly done when weather permits. The drive home was interesting as it took about 45 min for the first issue to appear, the front roof vent kept opening on it's own and eventually the rear started doing the same thing. I had to pull over several times in a 3 hour drive home to close them. I also noticed a shudder in gears 3,4 & 5 (in town only) that seems to smooth out at about 60 MPH, I notified CC and they asked me to phone the warranty hotline ASAP. I found this odd since I never got to test drive this unit and it supposedly went through a rigorous inspection at a 3rd party service center. I'm not sure where to go with this but as soon as it's warm out I'll be under it checking U-Joints and Steady Bearings. The fuel economy on the way home travelling @ 65 MPH (110 kph) was 9.4 MPG (25L/100 KM) and I drove it around in town for 60 miles (100 Km) and it was getting 8.7 MPG (27L/100 KM) which was pretty good in my eyes. I have since gone over it pretty thoroughly at home and found a handful of piddly things wrong and a damaged zipper on a dining seat bottom. I'll hit them up with my defect list before 30 days comes around. I've washed and cleaned the interior properly, cleaned, polished and resealed the floors and looked after many loose doors, rattles and door pulls. Overall I'm pretty happy for the price I paid and in reality can easily afford to spend another $5K in repairs before I would say it wasn't worth the purchase. I pretty much bought it for $25,000 less than a comparable unit from Craiglist or a dealer. Next on the list will be getting it ready for the TOAD and installing a backup camera along with some decorator touches to keep the wife happy. Stay tuned and thanks a lot for the great forum. Re: Buying a Former Rental Class C. How many of us out there?Hi, I just thought I'd pop in and say Hi. I'm scheduled to take Delivery of a Cruise Canada Majestic 28A on April 7 and this thread was a big part of my decision to buy a Rental, thanks to the O/P! I've been RV'ing for the last 10 years with a 5er and a Ram 2500 6.7 Diesel and long before that with many bumper pull units. I drove a used Class A unit at another dealer and while being quieter and bigger I am not sure I am ready for the tall center of gravity of an A and having only a single entrance. The CC 28A will have an Awning thrown in and I asked for new batteries and at least new steering tires. I drove one with 120,000 Miles (195000Km) and it was easy to drive and park so hopefully no issues with my chosen unit that has 110,000 MI as it was buried in a snow drift. I went through several of them on the lot and most of them have front overhand roof leaks and by the shower door the floor was heaved up badly. I chose one that did not have these issues and was almost the cleanest unit in the place despite the higher mileage. I looked at one with 90,000 Miles and it looked trashed and everything was loose, delam everywhere and the likes. CC (in Calgary anyway) does not let you look at a re-manufactured unit but only lets you choose a unit before the rebuild work is done. I would have thought they would have many reman units to choose from instead of looking at trashed ones. In any event, Thanks to this thread I have a good idea of what to look for and will bring a mat and probably a ladder and make sure it's good before I agree to take it home. Of course I'll do an extensive test drive and the bonus is that I'm exceptionally mechanically inclined and usually spot stuff very easily. Anything else I should be looking for before delivery? Thanks for the great thread!
