We set up our tents on the fire access road, no fire risk at the time we were there. The gourmet fish dinner (feast) we had on the Saturday night; salmon fillets, butter clams, crab and trout, all caught locally by our troup, except for the salmon. The salmon was excellent as it was cooked the old fashioned way, on cedar strips laid against the open campfire. My mouth still waters when thinking back to that weekend long ago. Happy camping, RoyRe: Whats Your Real Weights? Truck and Trailer. The Real DealPaul: Very nice arrangement and well taken care of. You do understand the loading parameters for your truck and 5er. Happy RV'g. RoyRe: Whats Your Real Weights? Truck and Trailer. The Real DealFastEagle; are you saying your truck GVWR is 11.5K? your 5er GVWR is 14.2K? your truck GCWR is 26K? what are the details on your truck?Re: Your RigTom: There are many manufacturers who have 40' plus 5ers. If you are seriously considering a coach that large you may want to consider a MDT as well. Perhaps those who have large rigs can respond to a post you might consider making. You will be overwelmed with their responses I'm sure. We have a relatively short rig at 27 1/2', Corsair Excella 26RKS, new this year. General Coach (Oliver, BC) make this make / model. They have a new unit out (4 slide model) that is 40' plus. The Excella is a basic unit that is well built (IMO), at least for what my wife and I were looking for. Good luck and enjoy your retirement. RoyRe: Your RigWelcome WitchKing: There is a vast amount of knowledge available from those who visit the forum on a regular basis. I know as I've had several replies to my posts that have been very helpful during the past year. I've had a 5er for 15 years now with TC's and tenting before that. There is always a lot more to learn and hopefully we will all continue to learn from and support each other. cheers, RoyRe: Your RigTiger02 The rack is my design with a local fab shop doing the fitting and welding. The material is 6061-T6 aluminum. It weighs less than 100# and could carry a lot more than the kayaks and bikes. I wanted something that I wouldn't have to worry about on our 10,000 km trip from Vancouver Island to Toronto and back. It was a little tricky managing the design of the headache rack as it had to clear the back of the cab and still permit tight turns with the 5er. It looks bulky but it is very solid, no vibrations (loaded) and it does not sound either, at speeds to 115 kph (70 mph). RoyRe: Whats Your Real Weights? Truck and Trailer.
