We have towed everything small to large but all bumper pulls. At a sales lot yesterday the guy said we will put a gooseneck in your bed. I did a little bit of research but decided to come here to seek out the best advice. ThanksRe: Travel trailer hitchOk I do grease my hitch ball on my trailer and on my boat hitch I have used the same hitch for boat and utility trailer for years no issues, obviously my camper trailer has a larger hitch and I grease it too without any issues. Happy Greasing!:DHitch IssuesHi all, first off let me say this is not my rig I am merely trying to help my friend out. He has a brand new Jayco Hybrid 23' he just picked it up Saturday. The Dealership hitched it to his to vehicle then he made the 120 mile ride home. When he arrived home he attempted to get it off of the ball but it would not release that time his neighbor helped him out. He hooked all up correctly last evening and towed it to the storage facility and again attempted to remove it from the hitch and no go. This time I drove out and looked at it myself and ran through my mind what procedures I do routinely hitching & un-hitching my unit. So after working with the unit there was no way it would come off of the hitch. I ended up using the hooked end of the cheater bar to pop the mechanism that holds the hitch to the ball. 1.) My friend greased the ball & locking mechanism 2.) The mechanism works fine without being locked onto tow vehicle and there did not appear to be any burs, nicks, cuts, or anything unusual 3.) the hitch sway system are all brand new Sorry for the long post just trying to get the facts out there as best as I know them. Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated I will pass them along to my friend.Re: 28' bunk house suggestions?I have a 30' with a slide and yes its the same configuration as yours with a deep slide I usually just push out the slid a little bit for access if on the road and someone need the bathroom as for loading and unloading I open it up all the way for access. We went from 27' and no slide to 30' and deep slide i guess I have just learned to get around it.Re: TRAILER ROLLED!!!I too use wheel chocks and blocks when leveling and I too have had that exact same scare it's pretty un-nerving to say the least. After my "roll" I always learned to "not" unhook the chains from my tow vehicle until all was settled in and chocked. glad to hear all came out for the best.Electric JackHi all just a quick question that I am sure someone out there will know the answer to. The electric jack on the TT stopped working yesterday for some unknown reason I was lowering the TT onto the ball and just as contact was made there was a loud pop like metal whacking metal sound. The jack would no move electrically after that. Two toggle switches on from of jack right for lift/lower & left for post lite. ( lite still works ). The jack moves freely with the hand crank. How or where do I go to check the unit itself. ThanksRe: tounge jackHi, well I have an electric tongue jack and have "never" experienced that stop and go issue. Mine is about 2 years old but that really shouldn't matter. You might want to check the jack wiring to the battery. It almost sounds like it is shorting out & or the connection is loose.Re: Stopping to gas upI too agree with the pick and choose method but every once in awhile you maybe caught in the situation that the station will be the only one for miles in the the 1 stoplight town, then you will have to put your driving skills to the test. This just happened to me last weekend I was stuck in a massive traffic jam on the I-285 around Atlanta decided to pull off and fuel up at a Citigo turns out it was the only station in town 1 island 2 pumps and 10 others trying for fuel at the same time it was a little tough & tight but kept a cool head and managed it.Re: Anything new on skipncharHey I too have had several conversations with skipchar and was wondering why I hadn't seen him just thought I was missing his posts did not know he was really MIA. Hope he is ok.Re: DW and backing upMy wife is quite capable of towing & backing she gets a lot of practice in the summer with our boat she is an all around great assistant, she can dump it, and load it. With that being said when it comes to the TT I do all of the driving. 2 summers ago we increased the size of our unit to 30'. In just about a week we are going to Florida and I am going to let my driving reigns drop a bit to give her a chance. When it comes to backing she could put our old unit in the slot without blinking an eye but this unit is a bit more intimidating in size length & height so with a spotter I believe she can do it it will just take a bit of practice and lots of patients on my part.
