Did you try pushing up and down on the step assembly from the bottom step? You might need to use a jack and lift it lightly up, or try extending the steps and pulling up and down on the bottom step. By extending the steps it should give you enough leverage to move the steps to see what is loose.Re: Apples and Oranges. A or CI tossed the coin also. I used to own a Chevy van and I couldn't stand working on it. Part of the engine work from the inside and the other from the outside and some very hard to get to from in or out. Since Class C's are basically a van with a house strapped to it I opted for the Class A. More room in the cockpit, especially if you want to get into the back to fix a drink (don't try cruise control, it doesn't steer worth beans, lol). But my friend has a Class C, but he has 2 kids so it works for him. His is Class C is 32' and seems smaller than our 27' Class A. His Ford V10 setup is probably as strong as our workhorse chassis except we have a wider wheelbase than his so ours holds the road better. I would say they all have their good points depending on the person. We bought the shorter Class A so we didn't have to parking lot camp.Re: Need new coach batteriesI have an Optima battery for my engine battery and I love it. It never needs to be charged when I charge the coach batteries. I bought the Optima because I knew it would sit for long periods of time (I only use the RV in cooler weather). When I replace my coach batteries, I will buy Optima. I bought it online for about $160.00.Re: no hot water from the shower, 2005 Panther (Monaco build)You guys have ice makers...out of my league. If you don't have water under the RV then I would think that your winter bypass switch is moved to the wrong position. If you have water under the RV, like I did, time to remove the WH and check your plumbing. Mine was a broken check valve.Re: How to operate a 1987 era OnanI have a '96 Onan Model 5. I have a rocker switch on the dash, push it up it cranks, push it down it shuts off. It didn't start the other day after it had been running. I opened the air filter enclosure and cranked from the generator and it started right up. Blew out the air filter and it works fine.Re: Do Tires on a Class A Rot with age?Tire have date codes on them. This is the date of manufacture. Check the date, if it is more that 6-7 years old the rubber is getting old. If you are not careful, you can get new tires that are at end of life when you buy them. I bought my MH used and the tires looked brand new and I was told they were recently replaced, with in two years they were cracked and needed to be replaced. And, no it shouldn't make a difference in price unless they are really old. My class A tires didn't cost anymore than pickup tires. If it's a DP then they will cost a fortune.Re: ONAN 4000 GenSetI had the same problem. My fuel gage isn't that accurate so when the generator quit I didn't think it was the amount of fuel, I was wrong. After I put more gas in the generator ran fine, I let it run for about two hours, no problem. Then about two days later it started and ran for about 5 minutes and quit, wouldn't restart. I checked everything, then I remembered from my lawn mower days and I removed the air cleaner, started right up. Took the air cleaner element into the garage and blew it out with compressed air and the generator now works fine.Re: Tired of parking lot campingI'm not familiar with So Cal. But up here in northern Cal there is lots of camping that is not in a parking lot. I've been to Bass Lake, it's dry camping but it's in the middle of pines and redwoods, beautiful but hot in the summer. Also above Angels Camp are a few campgrounds that allow RV's not sure of the length limit. I know that most of the State parks have a 30' limit so make sure you check before you go. I hate parking lot camping so I made sure I bought a rig that's under 30'. Though my friend has a 33' and has never been questioned about it when the limit is 30', but 40' they might notice that bad boy.Re: sanitizing tanks problemI bought a cleaning/sanitizing kit at Amazon for $12.00. Works great. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001TIV1KA/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1Re: sanitizing tanks problemI think you can buy anti-foaming additive if you look around. Not sure if it's a good idea to add baking soda to bleach. I know if you add it to vinegar it blows up.
