At my age, 5-7 years is about the length of operations before trading for skids on a rocking chair.Used Cummins Diesel QuestionsThinking about buying an older motorhome (100K miles or less) with Cummins but not sure something(engine) won't be masked at purchase to be a problem after writing the check. Internet sites list a lot of things to look for, but want owner/operator feedback. Also, what is the average yearly cost of ENGINE maintenance when driving is 5-10K miles per year? I'm fairly good at working on gasoline engines but no experience with diesel. Any info will be appreciated!Re: Help. Converting Auto park Brake to manual leverAfter replacing the brake shoes and rotten green switch myself with information provided by the "oldusedbear", I NEVER trusted the auto park system. The more I learned about it the worst my fear became. Sold the motorhome. Person who bought it drove it home from her first outing with the parking pedal down and burned up the shoes. So glad to be rid of it! Good luck with a bread truck brake installation.Re: Diesel ?Again, thanks to all who responded. Still looking and thinking!Re: Diesel ?After reading Lurker 1 post on 9/3 it really makes me rethink this idea. The motorhome is just an easier way of travel for me and the wife as we approach 70 years of age. Buying new is not going to happen and used is always a risk. Gasoline may still be the best way to go for the money. Thanks for the early replies.Diesel ?Sold my class A gasoline Motorhome a couple years ago because we weren't using it enough to justify ownership, storage, etc. Now we are thinking about getting another. Think we would like a diesel but still concerned about how much use it would get. Understand diesels are more expensive to maintain, etc. So here is the question: how many miles per month should it be driven rather than run at the storage unit? Any other advice, pro or con is appreciated.GoodbyeToday, after many years of travel trailer and motorhome use, we are out of RVing. Thanks to all who responded to my post especially the “oleusedbear.” Best wishes and happy trails to all.Re: Replacing Backup Camera SystemGuess I was not clear about the reason: putting in a new camera system. Talking with Tim at RV CAMS. Thanks to all for the comments.Re: Replacing Backup Camera SystemI said Coax - may have been the wrong term; it is the wire between the camera and monitor. Concerned that the old to new plug-ins may not match up on one or both ends. Talking now with the supplier.Replacing Backup Camera SystemI have a 1995 Geogie Boy Cruisemaster. Need to know how to run the new coax at the rear(behind the cabinets above the bed; no access)to the removeable access panels along the ceiling edge.
