Originally, for the fuel mileage, which I carefully tested and documented. As more syn long-chain polymiers were addeded to conventional, the mileage advantage largely disappeared. Now I use it mostly because an a non-carbon, I feel that it gives me better protection than conventional petroleum based products, and does not seem to break down into filter clogging sludge as bad as conventional oils. But, that's just my opinion, and I urge others to do as they feel best. I know lots of folks that will only use a particular brand or type, and will never even consider using anything else. Do you remember how much of a mileage increase that you observed?Re: Conventional Motor oil VS Synthetic for DieselsI don't believe that you can purchase a synthetic 15w40 and all 5w40 that I am familiar with is synthetic, never a synthetic blend. We do however sell a synthetic blend 15w40.Conventional Motor oil VS Synthetic for DieselsIn a different post clutchdust mentioned that he always uses Mobil 1, which is a synthetic oil. Our View (diesel) calls for either a synthetic 5w40 or a conventional 15w40 under normal RV driving conditions. It also calls for an oil change every 15,000 miles. The company that I am with sells lubricants and our number one seller by far is conventional 15w40. Where the synthetic really shines is in extreme operating temperatures, especially extreme cold. The synthetic is about twice the cost of the conventional. I would like to hear your thoughts on which oil you use and why.Re: A couple of questions for the group. Thanks to all who have responded this has been very helpful. klutchdust brought up another question I had, but I think I will start a different thread on it.A couple of questions for the group.Hi Folks, We ran a class A Pace Arrow back when the kids were the size of our Grand babies today. With just the 2 of us now we are setting up a C. I was wondering if you would care to share, how old is your unit, how often to you upgrade and how many miles a year do you travel? Or perhaps it would be better to ask "What is the life expectancy for you RV?"Re: Camping with dog breeds considered dangerousIn the news today Children killed by pit bull mix and a border collie. I have never seen a border collie that was mean.Re: Camping with dog breeds considered dangerousdturm said: I have to commend you all for having/keeping a civil discussion of this issue. It often is a topic that creates strong emotions that result in insults and then degenerates. Indeed!Re: Camping with dog breeds considered dangerouswesternparkowner, would it make any difference in the view of the other guests if the dog was never off the leash while in the campground? Certainly not arguing simply trying to understand.Re: Camping with dog breeds considered dangerous wowens79 wrote: If we are going to have a dangerous breed list, can we add chihuahuas, and dachshunds to it. I don't know why but everyone I've met has hated me and wanted to attack. Heard that! I called one camp ground that banned all dogs but cats were allowed. To me that made more sense than banning certain breeds.Re: Camping with dog breeds considered dangerousBack in the day I drove a delivery truck for 18 years making deliveries to farms, bushiness and homes. From that experience I can assure you that there are NO nice breeds of dogs. I have had close encounters from many sizes and shapes of dogs. All breeds have some bad actors. I know one fellow that called his pack of Chihuahuas "land piranhas." A dog bite from even a small dog is painful, and yes I have that T shirt. LOL. I want to tell you folks that I am really surprised by the number of comments and the prompt responses, both public and private. I really think that I am going to like this forum.
