It is on highway 380 just west of Carrizozo. Has power and water and a dump station. Very clean it may be full of others going to Trinity Site. Not to sure what Socorro has to offer not much of a town.Re: Hottest spot...El Centro CA in the 70”s one week average temp was 121. I was there in the navy working on F8”s teaching pilots. TAD from Nas Miramar. There was a F4 group there also. One day close to 130 on the flight line a F4 hit afterburner never got off the ground plowed through a lettuce field. I was a airframes troubleshooter had to carry your tools in a bucket of water and keep the bucket in the shade or the water was to hot to put your hand in. We all got a letter of accommodation in our service record for flying 155 hours with average temp of 121. Back in the day..Re: Rattle SnakesI have lived in NM all my life. 68 years now. I have seen a few rattlesnakes in my youth but you had to go looking for them. They could be found in he lava feilds around Grants NM. My brother has a ranch in Socorro New Mexico he sees snakes by the watering stations for the cattle when it is very dry. Which by the way it is very dry here now in NM. When I was in the Navy 68-72 I was a aircraft mechanic on F-8s. We had a bird go down east of San Diego and I was on the crash crew. While going in to this crash site the DO saw a rattlesnake. That is all he talked about while we were on the crash site. So we had to go through snake bite training. The DR that trained us showed us the snake bite kit, told us to unwrap the kit take out the instructions sit down and read the Instructions 5 times front and back. Throw away the kit and help would be there by then. DO NOT USE THE KIT. was his final statement. Snakes are around but I think they don’t like humans more then humans don’t like them.Re: Clip On Tow MirrorsI have used CIPA mirrors for the last five years with no problems. I have a F150 with turn signals in the mirror. They do make a minor to fit the turn signals for my truck. I would like to factory tow mirrors but I don't want to pay the price they want for them. I don't think any clip on mirrors are as good as factory mirror.Re: any words of wisdom? We have a Murphy bed in a Sunset Trail. It works great for us. The seating is very comfortable. When it is down it makes a flat base and we have a hinged 9" foam mattress which folds out. Just as good as the home mattress. It makes our 24ft trailer seem a lot bigger with a couch for seating.Re: Taylor Park COThanks It has been a wet and cool spring here in NM also. I understand the snow pack above 11,000ft in the Buena Vista area grew rather than melt in early May. We were in Durango last week there was fresh snow in the high country. Love Taylor Park we will ATV what is open.Taylor Park COHas anyone been to Taylor Park this spring? Are the passes open yet are is there still to much snow? With all of the rain in southern Colorado this spring I wonder how the camping is? We plan to be in the Tincup area next week. Thanks for any info.Re: Bikes For Retired Parents......I am in the 60 group and I ride a bike alot. I reached my goal last year of 100 miles a week average for 5200+ miles for the year. I started after a knee replacement 7 years ago best thing I did for my knee. I started on a "garage sell" Fuji mountain bike. I how ride a Trek road bike. When asked I tell people to start on something used and it they are still riding in 6 months to look to up grade from there. In 6 months you will know how you like to ride, where, when etc. You will also have a idea what to look for in a bike. I ride a bike trail here. This time of year there are alot of new bikes on the trails. Alot of those new bikes end up in a garge sells. If you know what to look for, you can find a lot of nice bikes that sell for alot less then they were new. I take a bike with me when ever we travel. I have a goal now to ride in every National Park. going to Big Bend this week with a stop a Carlsdad Caverns to check those two off my list.Re: 2004-2006 F150 QuestionI have a 2006 F150 Brakes at 45,000 did front and rear I have no problem with dust. Replaced battery two years ago. I am in the market now for the struts. My truck has 52,000 miles now. I feel I can put some money into it no other problems. I looked at new trucks last year they are out of budget at this time.Re: Equalizer Hitch Spacer Washer SizeMine are 1/2 inch. I needed to add some when we both a new TT.
