Taylor Park CO

I haven't been up to Taylor Park yet, I usually go in the fall when the crowds are gone. But I live in the mountains 100 miles south of there and we still have lots of snow blocked trails above 10,000 ft. This May has been the coldest & wetest in the 8 yrs I've summered here. Besides the heavy clouds, rain and colder temps, we actually had 3 snow storms during May. But after years of drought & wildfires, no one here is complaining. Around here the NFS usually opens the locked winter gates to the high country roads & trails around mid May. This year a few of them are still closed.
I would expect Taylor Park trails to be wetter than normal but ok, except the higher passes. call the store for a local report

Not Taylor Park, but we went through Monarch Pass Memorial Day Weekend. More snow up there than I have ever seen this time of year. I would guess the Taylor Park area would be similar.

Thanks It has been a wet and cool spring here in NM also. I understand the snow pack above 11,000ft in the Buena Vista area grew rather than melt in early May. We were in Durango last week there was fresh snow in the high country.

Love Taylor Park we will ATV what is open.

Cottonwood Pass between Buena Vista and Taylor Park opened for the season Memorial Day weekend. Like Monarch, probably a lot of snow still up top there.

I think you are at least a month early for the high elevation passes. TP is a great place to dry camp and ride. We have ridden our atv's there a number of times. I actually proposed to my wife at the top of Mt Antero. We're looking forward to riding our new RZR there soon.
