You can enter the Refuge around 6:00 Am but have to leave by about 10:00 PM. We have always stayed at Maddox Campground, in Chincoteague and you can see the lighthouse from there which is just across the bay.Re: Carrabelle, FLWe spent 6 days at Port St. Joe SP last April and left there, and then headed to Apalahicola. We had lunch at the Seafood Grill, right on the main drag. There was room to park a Class C rig right around the corner from the restaurant and you can walk thru the old part of town where there was once the old sponge exchange area. The restaurant was built in 1904 and the food was great.Re: Need advice on towing a Fiesta, and auxiliary braking.I was thinking that the weight on your Fiesta looked too high at 3600 lb's. I looked it up on line and it shows only around 2600 lb's. of gross weight. I tow a 1986 Honda Accord w/o any brake assist. It weighs 2400 lb's. Legally you can do that, and I do not feel unsafe with this lightweight vehicle behind me.Re: Manual Transmission Honda CivicI tow a 1986 Honda Accord, with A/T four wheels down. Eventhough the manual says not too, there was a Honda service bullitan which came out in the middle 1990's advising that it would alright to tow 4 wheels down, if you run the A/T thru each gear before towing and then app. every 8 hr's. after that if you continue to tow. Mine is only 2400 lb's., and I do not use a brake. I live in WV where there are hills, but if I have to go up and down any long 7%(or greater) grades, I usually unhook and let my wife drive it. I believe that I found this info. on towing old Hondas thru Blue Ox.Re: Questions for Nexus OwnersLet me know if you have any questions about the 28P.Re: Questions for Nexus OwnersI have a Nexus 28P and the dry weight was at 11,000 lb's. That would give me 3500 lb's. to carry before going over the 14,500 range. I have not weighed it at all 4 corners. I had them install a spare tire carrier under the rear of the unit. I had 3 flats on my previous MH, and would like to think that I can change a tire myself, if I ever have another flat. I went with the "no slideout" 28P but now my wife and I are thinking we need to upgrade to something with a slideout. I would consider going back to Nexus if we do get serious about getting a new unit.Re: I-26 or I-85 to Greenville, SCThanks for your responses. I never really thought of taking I-40 West from Statesville, but may do that, and hit 321 down to I-85. I have travelled I-77 many times and don't mind the Fancy Gap decline into NC, unless you hit it during a foggy time period. I came up it one morning, before daylight, and could not see 6 feet in front of me. We are not leaving until this coming Tues. PM, and heading to the Western panhandle of FL. I don't mind driving in hilly country-one road we take up to Canaan Valley, WV area, has a 9% grade. The only problem with those steep grades is that I am probably only getting 2-3 mpg.I-26 or I-85 to Greenville, SCI'm travelling in a Class C MH with Ford 6.8L engine, and was wondering which direction toward Greenville SC from WV I should travel, in relation to the better gas mileage. I could go South on I-77 and hit I-85 West, but would prefer to take I-81 down to I-26 through Asheville, NC, then on down to Greenville. My question is, would I-26 be too mountainous for better gas mileage, or should I just stick with going the I-77 then I-85 route? I have travelled it many times, but was wanting to see some different country along I-26.Re: Spare tire for our Class CWe own a 2011 Nexus Phantom. I ordered it new, and had them install a carrier system for the wheel, under the coach. On my previous motorhome, I had 3 tread separation in a 7 yr. period, so I always travel with a 2 ft. breaker bar, 6 ton jack, and a 110 volt air compressor(only cost $52 at Walmart). It will pump up 80PSI tires w/o a problem. If you are ever back to the Nexus company, they may be able to install the same wheel carrying bracket for you.Re: West VA help neededNoel and Rose, I may have answered a question for you a few month's ago, concerning coming into WV from I-81. But I live app. 35 miles North of Pipestem just off, I-64 in Ronceverte, and camped in Pipestem one month ago. I have a 30 foot Class C and it is no problem for me to drive the RV down to the Bluestone Dam and get on Route 3 toward Alderson, then toward Lewisburg. At that point, you can go toward White Sulphur Springs, WV and pick up Rt. 92 North. But this way, you would not be on any interstates. I have pulled a vehicle with my class C from WSS app. 80 miles North, then unhook the RV near the rural community of Thornwood, and my wife drive it the rest of the way to the Canaan Valley area(Dolly Sods to be more specific). If you are still in the area, call me on Sunday morning at 304-647-5210 or 304-667-9240. I'm the opposite of many RV'ers-I try to stay off of interstates as much as possible. We just got back an hour ago from the Monterey, VA area which is in the direction of Canaan Valley.
