Both will do the job. Larger brakes on 450,insurance may be higher,taxes ,etc,however the wide track front end is THE most important asset when backing in to Bolsa Chica or any parking lot style campground.My understanding it is not available on 350 anymore. Hope I'm wrong but dealer said none around.To me the steering radius is the deal breaker when I boondock. Friend had Forest River add an axle to a 38 ft 5th toyhauler and carried his CJ in the back.Only problem was he could not load it with his rock crawler tires on .He had a set that he could drive around on and load with. When he was at a spot where he would be a couple days,he would change tires.He seemed to always have people around ready and willing to help out!!!! Out camping in Sedona on FS525 and have billion dollar view of Red Rock country.Friends from Okla, watching OU play ,sittin by the campfire.Grandkids runnin around..Great night...Morning comes and Im at 63% battery.....What was runnin all night..TV,not enough amps,heater hardly ran,CPAP,seperate battery...Hummm.Inverter/charger crash? crank up Gen and alls charging...still 15 to 18 amp ghost draw....Wellll after walking around checking most things inside I go out and look around... and what was hanging from the pin box? Tried a skid wheel and I ripped it off.Best solution is move jacks closer to wheel.You can do the string thing to make sure you are clear,but I just found a place where I could reattach and also able to get the hammer drill on.I also put a 2 ft skid plate on the back to make it easier to drag it back where no one else goes.Put another set of jacks in the middle also,by the door and under slide on other side,makes a big difference when climbing up stairs..319Views0likes0CommentsRe: Generator compartment - how hot does it get?
Gen gets pretty warm,but is made to work in enclosure.Draws in air from one side underneath and blows out other side after going over cooling fins.Unless you have sealed batteries,DO NOT,mount inverter in battery compartment!!Gases can explode,and more probably they will eat away at the inverters electronics.If the bat compartment is sealed from the rest of the front storage,and it should be,you can mount inverter behind the batts up high on the wall.Short electric run and close to everything you need.When you get inverter if possibe get inverter/charger.Its what the BIG rigs have and makes charging faster,and easy.You can also wire inverter into 110v system and that makes all receptacles hot.One of the best things I have done..pricey but your batts will love you.474Views0likes0CommentsRe: Benefits of a Bedroom AC Unit?
Gotta have a unit in the BR.If its 90 outside and you have not pre-cooled your 5th at home EVERYTHING in your 5th will be 90,that includes clothes,bed coverings,food in cabinets,toothpaste...get the idea. If you go to a dually Ford,get one with the wide-track steering,your turning and backing will be easy.Had 2 different SRW and went to dually,what a difference in wind,pulling out of mud,sand, bigger brakes.My rig is 38ft9in and get bumbed out of some CG.The main thing is can you back it in..Thus the wide track steering.I mostly dry camp,so ..check all the levelers and make sure high enough,restroom availabile w/o opening slide a must,also can you open frig w/o slide out.Spend the money and get an inverter/charger and your life will be much easier.also a min of 4 batts.Get a great mattress!!! I love my triple axle,it goes over the washboards way better than a 2 axle.Had both..,Many great places to camp w/o the campground all over the West,AZ,Utah ETC.Remember its the journey,not the destination that you should enjoy....1 more year and I'm out there also...561Views0likes0CommentsRe: Weekend Warrior ramp question
Ramp is not structurally fit for spare mount.hollow sandwich core.welded hinged flat bar to bumper with mount for spare.Had to drop first before dropping door.had ratcheted up tight to door. Make shift unit until I sold trailer,But it worked and was easy to drop and retrieve spare.FYI340Views0likes0Comments
