They want to charge you more.Re: Really stupid question cc directv/satellite, etcSo, bottom line. I cannot use a portable Winegard for my Genie? SusieReally stupid question cc directv/satellite, etcOkay, people. I am TOTALLY confused when it comes to television. Here is what we have in our house: Genie Gen 2 HR44-200 I am wondering how to get Directv in my RV. I'm assuming I need a Winegard. My son told me that this receiver is high def and I would need a high def portable satellite. Is that true? Thanks, SusieRe: What would you add to your RV experience?Sorry. I guess you're not from Oklahoma! Druthers just sorta means choices. What would you add to your RV experience?Just curious. What would you add? I am talking of the overall experience, not a new washing machine or tech stuff! For instance, what could parks provide? If you had your druthers, what would you wish for?Power AwningWe have had several different kinds of awnings on various motorhomes including Girard which we liked. We now have manual and are going to replace it with electric. I saw the 9100 listed (A&E, Dometic) and also Carefree, which in reality nothing is. What kind of awning would you recommend if price was not an obstacle and why? Thanks in advance for your suggestions.Re: Power awning questionWe have had several different kinds of awnings on various motorhomes including Girard which we liked. We had the biggest Class A on the road at 47' yes 47' although registered as 45' with DD 515 and a small Class B with Mercedes 5 cyl. No comparison in fuel mileage, 6 vs 21. Finally settled on Super C, larger than the Ford 450 or 550 both of which are appealing. Just saw a new one from Four Winds alonside a big Chevy Jayco Seneca. Now have 06 Dynamax with Cat engine because of fuel needs in Mexico where low sulphur is not yet in play and US ordered conversions to engines in 07. For your purposes, ask more questions, get more answers.Re: Selling house to full time - thoughtsJust be sure you have accurate estimates of all real costs involved. AC in AZ in summer can be expensive. Project costs for a year in advance and then evaluate the actual vs the projected to see how close you are.Re: RV Newb In Need of AdviceLots of issues for first time besides cost but good to have a budget. Make another list of questions besides those you asked that might come from all the responses you got thus far. Then, do your research by visiting a few dealers and private sellers but do not let them suck you into a "deal" We have 20 yrs exp with RV's, now on our 6th one, and always buy used after bugs have been ironed out. Get someone experienced to go with you to look at a coupe that you might find through various searches online. I have looked all over a wide region, even nationally, to find the one I wanted, had my specs fairly well defined, and condition should always come into play. Lightly used and well maintained is best and many have not been abused, some have. Good luck and if you want more details, let me know.
