All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Rv falls on its face after engine is warmSeems like a fuel supply problem. Are you keeping the gas tank full? Maybe your fuel pump is overheating. I had similar problems and had to drop the gas tank several times to replace fuel pumps. I finally had enough. I installed an external fuel pump 2 years ago and I've had no problems since. If the external pump does go bad I can replace it in 20 minutes. I also replaced the wire going back to the fuel pump. There's too much voltage drop in the 30 feet of 16-gauge wire that came from the factory. I'm surprised that the original pump lasted as long as it did. The replacement pumps these days don't last anywhere near as long.Re: GENERAC GENERATOR ISSUEMaybe you have figured out that it is the wires on the rocker switch? Otherwise I would put a multimeter on the positive wire to the fuel pump and see if it loses power when the prime switch is released. No power to the fuel pump might indicate a control board issue.Re: Nearly impossible to get Class C Chassis serviced?Try Best Auto and Motorhome. 303-422-7304. Talk to Jack. We had a decent experience there about 4 years ago. Yes, it is very hard to find a good shop for older RV's. Expect problems at any shop you find and try to plan ahead. I wind up doing a lot of mechanical work myself. After having to drop my gas tank 4 times I replaced all the fuel lines and went with an external fuel pump. One of the better decisions that I have made.Re: New Solar InstallThis is a follow-up to KD4UPL's comment. I've been purchasing surplus solar panels and AGM batteries from a solar contractor in the Denver area for years. You can find him and see what he has in stock by searching Denver Craigslist for "solar panels" or "AGM". He is retired military so he always has "Go Navy" in his ads. His name is Marion and he is a good person to do business with. I have put together a solar install on my RV for a fraction of what it would cost otherwise by buying from him.Re: onan fuel pumpGravity-fed makes it expensive. I found some on ebay, they were also $125.Re: 86’ Chevy G20 Falcon 170 questionsWhat specific information do you need? What are you working on?Re: Travel Trailer with KayaksJRscooby, I have a raised receiver hitch so the rack is about 14" off the ground. The pictures don't show it but my HR really isn't that tall. The tops of the kayaks are about 12' off the ground. Re: Travel Trailer with KayaksDo you have a receiver on the back of your trailer? I made this with some 2x4's. It uses a Hitch Hauler rack as a base. Holds up to 4 Kayaks. Question regarding DC to DC ChargersI am installing a Renogy 20-amp DC to DC charger. My question is regarding the negative cable connections. The instructions say to connect the input negative cable to the chassis battery and the output negative cable to the house battery. My chassis battery is a good 15 feet away from where I'm mounting the charger and it would take some tricky cabling to get it there. Both the chassis battery and the house batteries are grounded to the frame. The charger will be right next to a negative post on the frame. What difference would it make if I just connected both of the negative cables of the charger to the same post? Can this cause a problem? I will contact Renogy next week with the question, but I am trying to get this install done this weekend, so I would appreciate any advice. Thank you.Re: WINDOW AWNINGSOur window awning really makes a difference in summer weather. The vinyl ones completely block the sunlight. I would like to get two more for our back bedroom windows.
