Thank you everyone for the help and advice, it is appreciated.Re: Small crack in fiberglass - how serious?I took a better look today. Here's another photo of the outside: And here are photos of the inside of the front storage compartment: (For reference, note the location of the staple in the first photo, and then the staple holes in the second photo.) The crack is located just above where the vertical plywood support meets the upper horizontal support. At first I thought it was the corner of the vertical support that caused the crack, but I'm pretty sure it's just above that. So, I can't really tell what's going on. It doesn't look like a fastener, but maybe it's a splinter of wood?Re: Small crack in fiberglass - how serious? It is a hybrid, a Jayco Jay Feather X23F, and this crack is in the front, not far from the corner of the bed. I looked again, and I can get to it through the front storage compartment, I just have to uncover it. I should have some time on Sunday afternoon, so I'll see what I can find. If replacing the whole front is really the right way to fix it, I'm not looking forward to making that phone call.Re: Small crack in fiberglass - how serious? Thanks very much for all the replies. I also thought it might be a fastener of some kind that was driven too deep. It's hard to tell from the inside where exactly the crack is on the outside. I don't know enough about fiberglass to know if this is a crack in the gel coat or what. I just heard back from the dealer, and they are submitting this to the manufacturer today and expect to get back to me on Monday or Tuesday. The dealer said they have a body shop that does fiberglass repairs, and they expect that's how this would be taken care of.Small crack in fiberglass - how serious?I just purchased a new HTT, and discovered a small crack in the fiberglass shell. Unfortunately, I didn't discover the crack during the final walk-through, I found it after I brought the camper home. Here is a photo: If you run your finger over the crack, it is dimpled outward very slightly, and I can't determine an obvious cause. I left a message with my contact at the dealer and I'm waiting for a call back. I have another minor warranty issue that they are taking care of, and I'm hoping they will fix this at that time. Can anyone offer me some advice on how serious this issue might be, and what the proper repair is? I want to make sure it doesn't spread or lead to water damage. Thanks very much!Re: WDH question - do I need to purchase a different shank? Thanks again for the replies. I thought about this all evening, and I am just going to order a new shank. Ultimately, this is not something to be cheap about, and I'm going to be in a pickle if I get all the way there and find out that my current setup won't work. Thanks again guys!Re: WDH question - do I need to purchase a different shank? Thanks very much for the replies. I think you're right, it's probably not possible to know for sure. My truck is a 2011 Toyota Tacoma (4x4 double cab). It does have built-in electronic sway control. I do not know the actual tongue weight of the trailer. The manufacturer says the dry hitch weight is 445 lbs. I asked, but the dealer couldn't tell me the actual weight. I am kicking myself for not being better prepared when I went out to look at it. Anyway, I just borrowed my neighbor's utility trailer, and loaded it so the tongue weight was around 550 lbs (I have a Sherline scale), and the truck was lowered just a hair over 2" at the hitch, and about 1.75" measured at the rear wheel well.WDH question - do I need to purchase a different shank?I am picking up a new TT next week, and I'm trying to determine if I can use my existing WDH (600/6000# trunion-style e2) as is, or if I need to buy a new shank with more drop. If I place the hitch head at its lowest position on the shank that I have, the ball height is 1" higher than the coupler height of the TT, when the truck is unloaded (without the trailer connected). Note that the previous owner of my truck added an extra leaf spring, so the back of the truck sits a couple inches higher than stock (which also means it won't squat as much). How big of an issue is this? The TT is 3 hours away, so I want to be prepared before I get all the way there. If I order one soon, there shouldn't be a problem getting a new shank here before I need it. Thanks for the advice!
