We left because of concern with still being able to travel freely and the behavior that we encountered in FL. Beaches still crowded with spring breakers in addition to the normal crowds, people still crowding restaurants and stores, etc. We reserved in a park in Georgia and told them that we wanted no contact, payed by credit card. We disinfected connections, wore gloves, etc. The park told us that if we didn't come in the office to register they would not honor our discounts (AAA, etc.) and there was a $2 surcharge. Whatever, needless to say we wont return there. Rest stops were open for food takeout and restrooms. We also made a stop in Virginia and stayed at King's Dominion Campground I must say it was a nice park and very accommodating. Traffic was relatively light. No way would I travel now for pleasure. This is very serious stuff. There will always be RVing, this is a time to hunker down, have as little interpersonal contact as possible, not being a Chicken Little here but this is scary.Re: .How do you reserve? Online only, by phone or combined.Mostly online but have found sometimes if a CG is fully booked online we call and occasionally they do have a site available.Re: Let's talk about NEXT wintah! We've been to most areas in FL and IMHO if you want to have pretty much guaranteed warm weather southern FL is your spot. The panhandle is beautiful but can get cold as well as other areas in northern FL. We prefer the southern gulf area (Sanibel,Fort Meyers Beach). This year we had exceptionally warm, sunny weather. Keep in mind that many popular areas have to be booked way in advance, many snowbirds reserve before we leave for home for the season and these areas can be a bit pricey. As the years go by it seems as if many parks prefer seasonal rentals, hard to get just a week here and a week there in popular areas. Wherever you choose it will be warmer than Maine though, lol.Re: Questions for snowbirds and campers? We are snowbirds, important for us is excellent reliable wifi, cable, convenient utility, sewer hook-ups, roomy sites with decent size cement patios, nicely paved roads, NO SPEED BUMPS, maybe small dog park area, recreation hall with kitchen, heated pool with sufficient area around pool for tables, lounge chairs, etc. A bulletin board area in rec hall for area info, brochures etc. is nice to have as well as offering the occasional bingo game night and activities like that, maybe try different activities and see what works for your park that wouldn't cost a huge outlay and see what interest you get. I'd stay away from the lake stuff (gators, poisonous snakes, etc.). I would just provide info to your clients on where in your area there are water activities (public parks, kayak rentals, etc.) so you won't have the liability or the headaches.Re: Nashville and Tennessee help for newbieWhen in Tennessee we visited Graceland, The Grand Ole Opry, took a trip to the Biltmore Estate in NC among other destinations. Would suggest if you do go to Graceland there is a campground right across the street and you can walk there, no need for more than a day there though IMO.Re: Where to go...East coast for a month (reverse snowbird)Spring Gulch is nice if you choose the Lancaster area, don't know if I would want to spend a month in that area though, not a heck of a lot to do. You may wish to consider Long Island NY - although may be difficult to get a campsite there. You have some of the best beaches in the US and easy access to NYC if you choose to visit. plenty to do there. Rehoboth Beach is a great area to visit - beaches, shopping, restaurants, etc. When we visit there we stay at Delaware Seashore State Park, it has a walking path right to the Atlantic Ocean and is close to the boardwalk and also not far from Ocean City Maryland. Lake Placid area is nice as well as the Lake George area.Re: Florida "noseeums" distressNoseeums in Fort Myers, Naples, Cedar Key, and other places in FL. They seem to like me and for years I had a bad reaction (itching intolerable and lasting for weeks). Now I avoid being outside early morning and at dusk. This year it seems when I do get bit it only itches for a couple of hours (could I have an immunity now?) We bought a new screen house made by Clam Corporation and since then we are able to sit outside with little bug annoyance.Re: New florida hangoutWinter Garden is nice, plenty of shopping, etc. Downtown Winter Garden has a small town feel with restaurants and shops. You may wish to take a drive to Mount Dora a pretty little town and Renningers which is an antique mart in Mount Dora. Wekiwa Springs State Park is nearby in Apopka, worth a visit. Of course Disney is about a 30 minute ride. We have stayed in Winter Garden/Orlando RV Resort. Park is adequate for our short term needs while visiting area but for longer stay I would suggest trying to get a site towards the back of the park. The park is on a main thoroughfare (Highway 50-Colonial Drive) and can be somewhat noisy with traffic, ambulances, etc.Re: Florida for those sensitive to moldWe've stayed in FL for winters for many years and don't leave our moho there, never have had a problem with mold.
