It's best for smoothing out bad roads. The Mor/Ryde looks like the best for chucking. In the north, the expansion joints cause my rig to chuck, but I don't have any chucking when towing in the south (no expansion joints).Re: 3/4 vs 1 ton . batavia02 wrote: I am the op and no that wasn't what I was asking.I did appreciate all the comments, I figured some one would catch that sooner or later.I was asking, just to recap, can I,,use 3/4 ton or must it be a one ton duel .yes it will be diesel.and cc.5th wheel.will be 15500 max weight. 41is length. Columbus 385 bh. I tow a very similar trailer. 41'+ Elkridge bunkhouse, GVWR 15500. I was towing this with a 2008 F350 CC SRW shortbox. I needed air bags, but it towed beautifully and straight. The only time I ever felt like I needed more truck was on mountain descents (didn't have exhaust brake) and in stiff cross winds. I replaced the truck last fall with a '15 F350 DRW. I still needed air bags (I swear these springs are the same as my SRW). In nice weather on flat ground - I can't tell the difference between the 2 trucks. My SRW probably pulled straighter (less steering correction). Descending from a 10,000'+ elevation or cross-winds, I really notice the difference. More stability on banked corners and exhaust braking is much better. I climb the hill easier also, much more power, but the old one did it too. MPG are worse in the DRW, about 1-2mpg.Re: Electric plug location rupprider wrote: Two A/C's question. 50 amp service would be nice for pretrip testing, maybe? Or for electrical troubleshooting? Or for the time you would say, damn I wish I had put in that 50 amp plug! That's probably worth it right there!Re: Electric plug locationReally appreciate all of the replies! A special thanks to the toyhaulers! My ideal installation will be as close as possible to my current trailer's plug and future trailers. Looks like I'll split the difference between the axles and the rear. For anyone still reading, do you see any need to have a 50A service outlet inside a pole-building? This is where I'll be storing it year-round. I can't imagine I'd run 2 A/C's inside a building...?Electric plug locationA quick survey on where your electric service entrance location is on your fiver. Trying to figure out where to install a power pedestal on our building to accommodate most units. Our 50 amp service plugs in on the back of the trailer right above the rear bumper on our Elkridge 37 ult.Re: B&W head height? Here's an update to my original post. I installed the B&W and Companion 3500. On the lowest setting, my hitch is 17" above bed height. With my 5th Airborne installed in it's highest position, my trailer sits level when hitched. I have plenty of bed rail clearance at 9".Re: B&W head height? nremtp143 wrote: I have mine set in the highest position. Works great in both trucks. The primary truck is the '13 F350 and it sits level. Love B&W hitches! Great to hear! I noticed you have air bags and a similar trailer to ours. Were the air bags to level the truck, or for comfort? We had bags in our SRW and not sure if I'll put them on this one or not...Re: B&W head height? kennethwooster wrote: I also went from a SRW, Pullright SG, to a DRW f350. This was an excellent choice. We went to the b&W. Can't believe how much better this hitch is over all the other hitches I have owned. I didn't have to make any changes at all. Were pulling level and have plenty of bed rail to trailer space. Curious what height adjustment you settled on with the B&W?Re: B&W head height?Thank you for all of the feedback! I'm hoping the Companion on its lowest setting, is no more than 1" taller than my superglide. As someone said above, the truck is a few inches shorter than my SRW F350. Hopefully that's enough. With the pinbox as high as it could go, the old truck towed it ~2" nose high. It wasn't ideal - affected ride and possibly tire wear. Really glad to see some heavy 5th wheels being pulled by the B&W. I wasn't sure what to think of the single contact point with the undermount.
