Gasbuddy shows stations. However. most are not RV friendly. Gasbuddy shows a Circle K at Academy Park Loop. However, Google Earth shows a dirt lot. Does anyone know if it is RV friendly? Any other suggestions. Thanks for any assistance.Re: Filter for auxiliary tankI use a Baldwin BF 7587 as a primary filter ahead of the factory filter. When I cut it open it is always discolored. I changed it yesterday after about 7.000 miles most of it towing and most of the filter media was discolored. I'm sure I could run longer but it is cheap insurance to change it often.Re: MaxBrakeI love mine also.Re: 110 PSI Air While on the RoadIf your tires are like my Goodyear G tire you will not need air on the road. Mine stay up at 105 psi for over a year at at time.Re: Never Lube BearingsI just pressed the last two of mine today. I had one fail a couple years ago. Two weeks ago a second one was changed on the way to the races in Kansas city. I had a hot hub that turned out to be the brake magnet. I had the extra bearing along so changed it at that time. I found a shop with a press to change the bearing. I did the rest of the work of removing the hub and drum and reinstalling. I disassembled the two that I removed today. A bent screw driver punch used on the inside of the inner race will punch out one side of the bearing and the seal. The other side can then be punched out. These are on a 2002 unit with the 50mm bearings. The grease was stiff and black. They were due for replacement. However, I think after looking at these bearing that they could be disassembled, cleaned and new grease packed into the bearing. New seals would be desirable. That's what I plan to do with these and they will be come spare bearings.Re: Air Bag Air compressor?Lots of 12 volt compressors will do the job. I made it easy on myself. The lighter plug would not work part of the time and it was a problem winding up the power cord all the time. I cut off the lighter plug and left a 3 foot cord and put a 7 pin RV plug on it and wired to the 12 terminal and ground. I plug it in on the back bumper pump and done. My rear plug is hot all the time other trucks may be switched.Re: Missouri to MontanaConsider entering Nebraska at Nebraska City and following Highway 2 across the state and catch Fort Robinson State park on the west end of the state. No interstate and you can enjoy the Nebraska Sand Hills.Re: Is there a hitch adapter for a ball in the truck? If you have the B&W turnover ball pull the ball out once and a while to clean the hole it is in. If left in to long dirt grime and other stuff will cause it to stick and be difficult to pull. I just leave mine out and install it when needed.Re: Fuel economy at 65 mph vs 60 mphI will toss this out for the Duramax pullers with the six speed Allison. I usually pull between 60 and 65 mph. I drop it down out of 6th to 5th. I find that the mileage does not drop off any doing this. Some short runs was actually better in 5th. There is less gear shifting when pulling hills as a added benefit. The engine is breathing well and getting more air for the fuel to burn better. Another situation, a friend of mine helps his neighbor farm. The owner gears up lowers RPM for a field operation. He had told Don what gear and RPM he was using. When Don when out he dropped it down a gear and increased the RPM. Same field speed and acres covered. At the end of the day fuel use was down 4 gallons.Re: How to improve towing for 2007 Chevy 2500 HD DuramaxI have about the same truck as the OP, except mine is a crew cab. My fifthwheel is a little heaver. changes I have made: Firestone air bags. I run them at 30 psi that levels the truck and keeps the lights on the road at night. Ride is better with them. Glide ride pin box helped the ride. The trailer did not cause as much movement of the truck when on the road. Bilstein shocks helped, but the old shocks were getting weak. The truck had an Edge tuner on it when I got it, I would not have bought it other wise. I like it for the gauges. I use exhaust gas temp, gear, boost. The biggest advantage of getting a tune would be to get an exhaust brake as part of that. However there is a trick to get an exhaust brake on and LBZ with a switch. It works on most LBZs and cost only a few dollars for some pins, wire and switch. I just sad it did not work on mine.
