They only want to replace with the same weak axles.Re: Axle problem with 2016 Jayco White Hawk 27 DSRLFor now I have to take what Lippert pays for. I’ll upgrade to something better when I get back. Do you also have a White Hawk with the widely spaced axles? I know there is a Lippert upgrade to a 4,400 lb axle but is that going to solve the problem ? It has 14” wheels and the distance between hubs is 42”. I’m thinking of getting the Jay Flight 28RL. Same floor plan but axles are close together and the gross weight is 8800 instead of 7500 on a trailer whose factory weight is 6800 instead of my 6130.Re: Axle problem with 2016 Jayco White Hawk 27 DSRLJuly 23 and I'm still disabled and sitting at a campground. The axle shipped on Friday but the tracking number has nothing associated with it as of 9 am CST. They only shipped an axle and did not include the hubs so that might cause a problem when we take a look at the bearings etc. I had the repair shop check the frame. It is OK, No cracks and while the hangers are a bit long they do have side braces. I think the biggest problem is the distance the wheels are apart. The distance from center to center on the hubs is 42". When you hit a bad joint on the hwy the front axle leaves the ground, leaving the back axle to bear all the weight just as it hits the joint. That could be what causes the back axle to always bend.???? But i'm not an axle guy. The entire summer plans are now shot. Getting the axle replaced does not solve anything. What ever caused the problem has to be fixed. Think it might be time to get a good lawyer and recover some of my costs.Re: Axle problem with 2016 Jayco White Hawk 27 DSRLThank for that suggestion. I’ll look for a body and axle place Monday morning.Re: Axle problem with 2016 Jayco White Hawk 27 DSRL Click For Full-Size Image.Re: Axle problem with 2016 Jayco White Hawk 27 DSRLIf this works I’ll post more pictures Click For Full-Size Image.ggRe: Axle problem with 2016 Jayco White Hawk 27 DSRL[img] [/img] If this works I’ll post more picturesRe: Axle problem with 2016 Jayco White Hawk 27 DSRLThe current bend is in the middle or the back axle. It looks like a smiley face. I’ll try to link pictures to the post. The problem before destroyed the front axle breaks, bearing and hub.Re: Axle problem with 2016 Jayco White Hawk 27 DSRLUpdate on the axle problem. Both axles were replaced in Ridgeland SC. 15 days after they first broke. I returned home and my RV dealer (PetesRV-CT) had me bring it in to see if they could find out what happened. They replaced all the shackles, springs and a bushing. That was in June 2018. July 1 I head west and on July 4 the rear axle bends yet again. I made it to the KOA that I had reservation for and as luck would have it there is a great RV repair facility next door. Travers RV Repair in Eureka MO. The axles are under warranty by Lippert BUT the factory was closed the week of July 4. So there is a back log. They said they would try to expedite them and called back to say they would be shipper on the 12th. Talked with Mark in Lippert tech support (Lippert will cover axle and 1 1/2 hour labor) and Brendan in products (Lippert will expedite and ship on 12th). Called on the 13th to get a tracking number and was told they are to ship on the 22nd !!! BACKGROUND INFO: 1) The gross weight of the camper is 7,500 lbs, weight from the factory is listed 6,132 lbs. The cargo weight is listed as 1,322 lbs. It was built with 2 axles that support 3,500 lbs each. Even with a light load you travel close to maximum weight. 2) The weight of my camper on July 9, 2018 with food and clothes for 1 person is: tongue weight 1,160 lbs, rear axle weight 6,000 lbs, total weight 7,160 lbs. That was the weight of the camper when the rear axle bent on July 4, 2018. UPGRADE??? Lippert has an upgrade to a 4,400 lb axle. (part number V000466222 at a cost of $518.95 each)(Talked with Greg in Axle division of Lippert) It fits the current bolt configuration and is a simple swap. BUT Lippert says it is Jayco's problem to fix and Jayco says it is Lippert's problem to fix. My dealer Petes RV in CT got involved on Thursday July 12. Sara at Pete's RV emailed me the last time on Friday at 4pm that she had talked with Lippert and was talking with Jayco. So here I sit waiting for Monday when perhaps someone will make a decision. Why should any of them care if I am sitting here in a heat wave and have to cancel all of the plans. Until Jayco and Lippert decide what they will do, I'm stuck here. It is a 4 day drive home.Re: Axle problem with 2016 Jayco White Hawk 27 DSRLThanks for all of the suggestions. I doubt that I am over weight, but I will put it on a scale when I get back on the road. I travel with only a few gallons of water in the freshwater tank and empty the black and grey water before traveling. Its only me and a miniature Schnauzer in the RV so how much weight can that be. The first time I bend the axle my dealer had 3 others with the same issue. That damage was slight and I was able to get back to the dealer for repairs. This time it may have been the bearings that caused the probelm. My Tundra signaled me that there was a problem with the trailer wire connections. I was near a rest area so stopped to check. I noticed that one tire was very hot and called the dealer. He thought the problem was a ceased break. Had me cut the wire. Drove down the road for another 8 miles and pulled into a truck rest area. Wheel was very hot. Connected with a repair shop. When they took the wheel off the bearings were gone along with all of the breaks and the spindle was bent. I had the bearing inspected and repacked a week before this trip. I have pictures but do not see a way to post. Must be here someplace.
