Well, it got so bad I started calling repair companies in Billings, MT. Absolutely no one wanted to even talk about repairs to an RV. We kept driving east toward Bismarck and started calling companies there to look at our rig. We finally got the owner, Terry of Advanced Fleet Services in Bismarck to look at our rig. We had a crack in one of the tubes going into the fuel pump and it was spraying gas every time we accelerated hard up a hill. Advanced Fleet Services was a very professional and honest company. Their owner, Terry, and his son, Travis were just plain good, down-to-earth folks. They got the fuel pump replaced and we were on the road with only one day delay. It would have been sooner but the fuel pump had to be overnighted from Chicago. Great job guys. SteveGas tank leak, gas smellI posted earlier about the gas smell and the noticeable gas stain down the side of the gas tank on our 2004 Winnebago Itasca. Thank you for all your responses!!!! The leak is definitely from the top of the gas tank down the side of the tank- not a big leak at all. However, as we drive from Big Timber, MT toward Bismarck, ND the smell of gas inside the rig is becoming VERY strong. I am letting the gas tank drop way below half, I started this morning with 7/8 tank in Big Timber and think the high level in the tank allowed the gas to slosh around. Anyway, this appears to be something that cannot wait until we get home in Nevada in 5 weeks. So I am wondering if anyone can recommend someone good in Bismarck that can drop a gas tank and repair what needs to be done. Thanks in advance for your help. SteveRe: Smell Gas FumesThanks for all the responses I received on this. I crawled under the rig and had a look around. The fill hose and vent hose looks like it is not cracked or leaking. However, I did notice that what looks like a small amount of gas has seeped from somewhere on top of the gas tank part of the way down the side. It would seem to suggest something similar to the last person responding that it might be a cracked vent line on top of the gas tank which I cannot see without taking the whole gas tank out. That is something that will have to wait till I get home. thanks again for everyone's response. SteveSmell Gas FumesI have a 2004 Winnebago Itasca Class A motorhome with about 48,000 miles. Just started a 6 week trek and stopped in Big Timber, MT after having filled up the rig about a 100 miles back. Topped it off real good. when I got out I smelled gas fumes and thought it might be coming from the generator. Nope, not that. I rolled under the Itasca and it smelled like the fumes were coming from around the gas tank. Did not see any gas dripping, a small area near the top of the gas tank seemed to have what appeared to be stains (from gas?). I called my buddy at Camping world in Nevada and he was talking about evaporative hoses getting cracked or something. The only thing I really understood was to have a good time and bring the rig when I get back to town in August. I am not too concerned but don't want to blow up either. Does anyone have any further insight into this dilemma. Thanks in advance for your consideration Steve
