We are going in September but the local places I like were already booked. Went ahead and got a spot at Newport Dunes. Could change later if I find a different spot but its our anniversary so I want to make sure I have something reserved.Looking for beach camping recommendations in SoCal...Hi guys, My wife and I are looking for beach camping recommendation in the southern California area. We live in northern San Diego and are willing to drive a little bit. Would like to do San Elijo or Carlsbad but it is tough to get spots there and they are already showing full for when we want to go in September. Needs to be accessible by a larger rig, my bumper pull is 37ft long. Let me know if you have any good places to check out. I appreciate it! -TylerRe: How long is to long? The total length of my bumper pull TH is 37.5ft long and with my long bed crew cab truck I am 57.5ft total length when hooked up. This is pretty long. I don't go on trips without checking into spot and road sizes because of this, but I am pretty consistent as to where I go and where I can fit. When checking out new spots I will look at the campground on google earth and use the measuring tool to get an idea of how big the spots are.Re: Voltage and Load Requirements for 30amp service dougrainer wrote: Jim@HiTek wrote: If I was going to provide a newer electric system for RV storage customers, I'd put in a 20 Amp system with 15 amp breakers. Cheaper and will easily keep the batteries charged on any older or modern RV of any type. You're looking at less than 5 amps. The RV'ers will supply their own adapter. This would also prevent abuse which I suspect would happen if you installed 30 Amp outlets. Abuse would happen because MOST RV'ers have NO CLUE how 120 voltage works on their RV. They would adapt DOWN from the 30 to 15 amp with the adapter and then RUN the AC units and such. That leads to overloading and burnt pins and receptacles. Since he states that customer only have access to their units after they pick up, is good. BUT, what happens when those few customers leave the roof AC or Water Heater ON. When the OP plugs the units in, those appliances will then come on. Doug Since we park everything valet style we always make sure everything is off when stored.Re: Voltage and Load Requirements for 30amp serviceThanks again everyone for all the input. This should be plenty of info for me. We are a full service valet storage company so customers only have access to their units after we pull them out of storage. Appreciate all the help!Re: Voltage and Load Requirements for 30amp serviceThank you for the responses. The reason I ask(and I am not trying to advertise) as I own an RV storage business and am building a new location. We are putting 30amp plugs in throughout our new warehouse and am looking for normal minimal draw with motorhomes and RVs just being plugged in to keep the batteries good. No one will be running appliances or AC's while stored so my engineer was looking for the basic load and draw for planning and wiring purposes. Most of my indoor customers who will be plugged in are RVs and not toy haulers. Currently the RVs we do have plugged in are stepped down to 110 since we have no 30amp plugs and are normally fine but occasionally will still trip the breakers(we have an old building). So, looking to upgrade but don't think we need 50amp for just keeping batteries good.Voltage and Load Requirements for 30amp serviceI'm trying to figure out the voltage and load requirement for an RV/Trailer plugged into a 30amp circuit. With nothing in the coach running, just being plugged in and charging the batteries. Anyone know? Basically, when an RV is plugged into a 30amp service, with nothing on inside, what is it drawing? Thanks!Re: Purchasing used Weekend Warrior Toy HaulerMy previous trailer was an '05 FS2300. With a RZR, a quad, two dirt bikes and full water and fuel I weighed it at 8800lbs. I don't have tongue weight or the scale sheet for that one, towed with my '08 Tundra no problem. Horrible gas milage, but plenty of power. I now have an '06 FB3000, the front bath model which gives me 20ft to the first cabinet. My sand car is 17ft long so I need the room. The original owner had the entire frame strengthened as well as the tongue extended/strengthened to be able to fit an 80 gallon gas tank(picture a truck bed tank) up there. He had some sort of baja race car hence the need for that much gas... Anyways, the trailer is 37.5 feet long which is a large tow behind, but it is strong and stable. I tow with an '08 Duramax CC/LB with EFI live tow tunes and exhaust brake. I also have air bags, and a Curt XD hitch. Here is my weigh sheet with sand rail, water, truck bed filled with about 40gal diesel in my external tank and full firewood. I did not un-hook so no exact tongue weight. I know the weight police will yell at me but this set up tows very stable and the truck pulls and stops it with no problems. In my opinion any normal WW without the modifications mine has will work just fine with your truck as it will be lighter overall. I do enjoy the triple axel for stability and I run two stabilizers on hitch also. I'm guessing my trailer is just shy of 15k with about 2300lbs of tongue weight.Re: Trojan L16h-ac batteries - a couple of questions Kevin8520 wrote: Hi Don, I don't know the current amp hour rating on the one battery. I will pull it from the battery box and find out asap. I would prefer not to add an additional solar panel at the moment if possible. I do have a generator onboard and I do also camp at campgrounds with full hookups. With those two additional power sources do you still feel 275 worth of solar is needed? I see you have a hefty battery bank. Admittedly I don't know a ton about solar. Would an additional solar panel connect to the one already on the roof or does it need to be wired down to the charge controller? You should be able to add another panel just by connecting them together on the roof. You do however need to find out how many watts your solar charge controller is capable of though first. -TylerRe: LED Lights for exterior flood lights??I got mine at M4LED.com.
