But I did break a shear pin one time in 2003 I was retracting my slide out in my 1999 Fleetwood and the slide out roller went over a small thin children’s book. I was going up that steep hill just before you get to Yosemite and my slide out extended out when I went around a corner. I didn’t have my slide out lock in place. After locking the slide into place I went to a RV repair shop and got the shear pin replaced. The RV Mechanic told me that the slide out has to be perfectly level with no obstructions in the way of the rollers, rollers free from debris and no binding in the slides (alignment). Good Luck, RoosterRe: Do you carry a spare tire? No, because of back trouble! I’ll just wait until help arrives!RV Accident in EllensburgMike Edelbrock was not associated with the racing parts company. He owned a along with his wife Lois construction company in Monroe, WA. State Miklo Construction. Mike and Lois just went thru the interior of there 2007 Beaver. I didn’t know Mike but I worked with his older brother. I went thru the accident scene two days after and Mike took out a lot of guardrail which didn’t help slow him down according to what I seen. It has since been replaced with a extra piece of guardrail running parallel with Wilson Creek. Speed limit was 60 MPH for Trucks and 70 MPH for cars. That area is very heavily patrolled by the Washington State Patrol, with there detachment just up the highway. I was on my way to Grand Coulee Dam and was very nervous driving coming and going after driving thru the accident scene. I only had a steer tire go out on me once in my 44-1/4 years driving a semi over the road and I didn’t hit the brakes, but it was like wrestling a gorilla and the truck was going where it wanted! I got it stopped just before going into a ditch on Hwy. 101! So I have no comment on steer tires my blown tire was manufactured by a Japanese Company and I never found out what the cause was? RoosterRe: Class A in pieces after accident, EllensburgI failed to mention in previous post that tires possibly being the cause was from eye witness reports and the Washington State Patrol on scene investigation. The WSP did not mention if the tire problem was from the RV or the cargo trailer it was pulling. The RV and Cargo Trailer are under lock and key in storage until further investigation is done by the WSP and the NTSB. There going to go completely thru both units!Re: Class A in pieces after accident, EllensburgI read a article from the Yakima newspaper and the reporter said he talked to the Washington State Patrol, and the WSP said they suspect tire problems caused the accident! I’m now retired but used to drive truck from Kent to Ellensburg I know that stretch of I-90 very well. If that RV and trailer would have been going a little faster or slower it would have been possible for it to have gone into the Eastbound lanes of I-90. The RV went in between the two bridges down into Wilson Creek. The WSP was shocked when they pulled the driver and passenger out, then discovered 7 children inside the coach either deceased or hurt! A total of 9 people were in that RV.Re: My 2004 MH needs better brakesKen, good to hear from you again on the post! I would call a workhorse shop and ask if there still doing the Bosch/Workhorse brake recall. Bosch supplied Workhorse with many faulty brake calipers! There is a website on Winnebago Recalls you will have to google search to find it. If your coach is according to your VIN on the recall list the Workhorse Shop will have to replace your calipers free of charge regardless of how long it has been! Workhorse then forwards the charges to Bosch who were originally responsible for the problem. Although Workhorse is not currently building RV chassis there in business and doing well building package cars for United Parcel Service! RoosterRe: Low Battery on my Winnebago AdventurerThanks to everyone who helped! I just took the engine battery got it charged, reinstalled it and the coach fired right up! All batteries are charging in the 14 range after coach runs for awhile. RoosterRe: Low Battery on my Winnebago AdventurerOK, Thanks, Ron I’m doing that now!Low Battery on my Winnebago AdventurerMy chassis battery won’t start! My battery boost also will not help start the engine, I push the battery boost switch to on position and I have no response. My chassis battery is dead and both my house batteries are reading 13.8! I do hear some clicking from the solenoid and when the keys are in the ingintion and I play with the keys I do at times get idiot lights. There is a sticker near my batteries saying disconnect batteries before charging, does this mean turn my battery control switch off are actually disconnecting the positive cables on all 3 batteries? And what is the reason for doing this? I currently am running my gen set to get house batteries charging at 14.0 to 14.2! If running the gen set don’t help then I’m going to take my chassis battery into town to get it checked out. Thanks, John “Rooster”Re: Running ac off of generator while driving.I run the heat pump to cool the inside of the coach from Barstow to Lake Havasu City with no engine power loss.
