That's a good idea to check with a spring shop. devildog1971...Did the extra leaf affect the ride of the truck much and do you mind sharing how much it cost? I'm starting to think it might be smart to just wait and put the camper on and then decide what to do. Haven't fully decided on which camper yet anyway but the reason I wanted to do something now is because I'll be picking up the camper out of state and I know our last camper did make the truck squat a bit more than I liked. I think the camper should be similar in weight to our last one though so I could always add a bit of air to the airbags and do any suspension mods later. Thanks again everyone!Re: Stable Loads or Supersprings? You beat me to the post.:B I must have been typing when you replied. That is what we have been leaning towards doing. It's just hard sometimes to know what to do. We do have airbags because they were recommended back when we first got a truck camper but we want to take some of the squat out of the truck without adding the sway and airbags alone don't do that. Thanks everyone for your replies! Bigfootchevy wrote: I agree they each have their separate purposes and they would both work very well together. If I was you, I would add the stable loads first, test the truck with camper on. If your happy it done and if not add either the Supersprings or just add an extra leaf spring to each side of your truck. But I have also read on here that Dodge trucks work very well with stable loads and air bags together. I am just not a big fan of air bags and added the extra springs on my last Chevy truck. I would never own a truck again without stable loads. Hope this helps. Paul Re: Stable Loads or Supersprings? Thanks for the answers! That's interesting that they can both be used together. I think we will just be getting one or the other to start with to cut expenses. Any feedback on longevity would be great too as well as any problems anyone might have had.Stable Loads or Supersprings?Well, we are still doing research before purchasing a camper. I tried to search for a comparison between Supersprings and Stable Loads and didn't come up with much. Has anyone had both and if so which one worked better and why? I think I understand the principles behind how they both work but theory and real life experience can be different.;) We do have factory overload springs on out Dodge 3500 but still our last camper made the truck squat. Airbags helped level things out but they also made it sway more. We kept the pressure to a minimum. Any input is appreciated!Re: Disappointed in my new LanceThis has been an interesting thread. We are looking to buy a camper soon and looked at the Lance 855 and 855S recently at a dealer and at an RV show. I was disappointed to see many flaws and corner cutting too. Only one of the campers we looked at had a toilet paper door that latched and all the TP doors were warped which looked like they would allow water in. Has anyone come up with a fix for this? Also one of the campers had a large bubble on the roof that ran from one side to the other. Is that common? These were all 2014 models. I like the 855S for the most part (except the battery location) but am concerned about the quality. We will be going to another RV show next week to look at Lance, Arctic Fox, Northern Lite, Adventurer and others. It will be interesting to compare them all side by side.Re: Belize?EsoxLucius, I personally wouldn't want to do it although I did see someone pulling an Airstream the other day in western Belize. I have been living in here for a little while and visited many times over the last 17 years. A lot has changed over the years! There are some nice places to see but I wouldn't want to do it in an RV. If you do decide to take the trip, I would check out the Spanish Lookout area which is a Mennonite community in western Belize. I remember seeing an RV sign out there and it tends to be a safer area. The roads would be pretty hard on an RV too. Much worse by far than Mexico especially this year with all the rain. I don't know what the requirements would be at the border but I know that with all the recent scandals in the government and Immigration department that there have been a few changes made. I have even seen tourists refused an extension to stay past 30 days because they didn't have an airline ticket out of the country and others hassled. Depends on the mood of the Immigration officer. Security/ safety and repairs would be my other concerns. Per capita murder rate is 5th highest in the world. Not trying to discourage or scare you but I know I would want to know all the issues before going. Whatever you decide to do, I hope you have a great trip!Re: Lance backup camera brand? Thanks for all the feedback! We were debating on whether it was worth adding as an option from Lance or getting an aftermarket system and installing it ourselves. I looked up Voyager and saw several models. Does the one that Lance uses have the 7 inch display? WestCoast1969 , Thanks for that link. Looks like a very good price and there are lots of positive reviews.Re: Lance backup camera brand? Thanks guys! There are so many backup cameras online when I search for them that it's hard to know where to start. RoyB, that looks like a nice setup in your truck. Wish I'd had that all the years we were towing our TT! BillT, The Lance website does say that it is a color camera that they use now but they don't give much info on it. Good point on the reversed image. I'll have to keep that in mind when looking.Lance backup camera brand?Does anyone know what brand backup camera Lance uses and how good it is? I was wondering if it is worth ordering or if there is a better aftermarket option. I'd like one that works at night and has audio too. Thanks!Re: Formaldehyde. Which Manufacturers use the least? Thanks everyone for your input. I'm narrowing down the choices and then I'll go look at some to get a better feel in person. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!:)
