Should I use Eternabond on a metal roof?Re: Good Sealant for Sealing our CamperWould it be ok to seal the roof seams with Dicor till the Eternabond arrives in the mail. The local RV store had Dicor so that was great.Re: Good Sealant for Sealing our CamperWhich is better Dicor self levelling or regular? Also which width tape is best for roof seams? 4 or 6 inch. Thanks for all the advice. I want to make it last.Good Sealant for Sealing our CamperWhat is a good Sealant to use? After searching the entire lower peninsula of Michigan for a hardside truck camper that was in good shape and fit our budget we found a 1983 Real-lite in great condition. The owners bought it in 1984 and stored it inside the entire time they weren't using it. However it desperately needs sealed and I don't have the luxury of storing it inside. Is there a good Sealant available from home depot, Lowe's, of Napa that would be good to use? I can order ProFlex but it takes a week to get here and it's supposed to rain soon. Should I tarp it and wait for the good stuff or is there something I can buy that will work now. I know to avoid silicone.Sportsman vs Travel VillaWhich of these brands makes a better camper?Re: New to campers - purchased a 1991 Palomino - Good camper? Real Lites have build issues, well documented on many forums. I suggest you do some searching on them. No matter what you buy, ANY used camper of any vintage will probably have water intrusion issues, You better look over any used unit real closely, no matter what the price point is. Oftentimes, what appears to be a 'silk purse' is really a 'sow's ear' inside, between the inner walls and the outer skin. I've listed in previous threads on this forum just how to look for and what to look for and where concerning water intrusion and the obvious signs of rot and mold. Sometimes, what appears on the outside to be a nice unit is really ready for the landfill. Guess that is why I always buy new and even then, there can be issues. What build issues? Do you have a link or more specifics? I can't find much about them online.Re: 1983 Real-lite - Quality Camper or not? Frame material donn0128 wrote: Build quality on a 34 year old camper? Worry about leaks. The rest is not worth worrying over Someone brought it up on this forum. Just trying to figure out if there are any issues that will pop up before I buy it. And Id like to determine the frame material.Advice on Camper ConstructionI am looking at getting a TC for the family. I want something that will last. I don't mind working on stuff as I have remodelled my house so projects are a big deal. I don't have a garage to store it but if what I buy isn't too tall I have a carport. I am wondering do the older metal sided trailers from the late 70's to early 80's hold up better than the new ones? Is stick and tin better for someone who wants to keep it a long time and doesn't mind working on them? I like the look of the vintage campers a lot. My biggest concern is getting something solid that with some work I can make into exactly the camper I want. My truck is a 1995 F350 4 door, single rear wheel so weight is not a huge concern.1983 Real-lite - Quality Camper or not? Frame materialI'm looking at a 1983 Real-lite. Original owner, stored indoors. Everything works. $1100. Are these a well constructed camper? I have heard there are build issues with some of them but cannot find any related information online.Re: New to campers - purchased a 1991 Palomino - Good camper? Thanks for all the replies.
