We had a dually-flat both tires out on I-40 about a hour East of Barstow as a January evening arrived. Well we called GS first and told them about our two flats so we needed another tire as well, however no one showed for many hours. We called and they said they we're looking for someone for us in some small town clear out toward Las Vegas! We then called USAA who said they were sending someone now from Barstow, while on the phone with USAA, GS called and said the person is on his way. So we cancelled the USAA call since they hadn't left yet. After midnight the tow truck arrived without a spare! So in the end we put our single spare on and limped to Barstow. Needless to say I no longer use Good Sam they got one year of service from me and that's it. Now I depend on Progressive and USAA and they have never let me down.Re: Lift TV - any problems? No problems here and I converted mine to a remoteRe: Many BLM campsites openBLM Parks in Oregon and Washington states are closed!Re: Do park hosts have to leave? USA Traveler wrote: The Corps region I am in is allowing volunteers to stay, but can not do any work. I am hoping this means they hope this is a short time event and they will still need the volunteers when the parks open again. This is true with BLM as well. It is up to the Park's management on if Hosts my stay or not, but ALL Hosts in Federal Parks are not allowed to work.Re: Full time rated? You are going to get a lot of responses with a wide range of prices and quality. I have lived in a Teton, Bounder (Class A) and Open Range and each has it's advantage and disadvantages at the same time I've known other full-timers with expensive RVs that seem to have the same problems I have. True construction is everything but all trailers are designed for over the road use. If you are planning alot of off-roading or rough roads then consider a "heavy" fiver otherwise go out and get what fits you the best i.e. storage, kitchen, bath etc. at the price you can afford and enjoy full-timing!Re: Trailer accidentThat stretch of 97 is infamous for head-ons. When I was 21 I was hit head-on in that very area fortunetly I was driving a Chevy Pick-up but the person who crossed into my lane was driving a Honda Civic...she did live :)Re: Never drive interstate WoodGlue wrote: In Texas? You want me to drive throoooooo Texas on a 2 lane highway to see what? This? Oh sure sure! :B WoodGlue OK but the speed limit on Texas highways are 70 mph, yes I said 70mph on highways not freeways which is 75-85mph! So my question is, how many of you RVers are cruising at 75mph plus? On a personal note... I do prefer off the beatin' path however it has gotten me in deep a couple times. That's actually one of the reasons I bought a fiver recently because I can back out of a situation. With my Class A I would get into these situations and my DW got tired of unhooking the toad and driving out while I followed :oRe: Carlsbad Caverns vs Kartchner Caverns 2gypsies wrote: . . . have given the tours at Kartchner. :) My wife and I are interpretive BLM Rangers in Oregon during the summer. This winter we are going to Kartchner Caverns to volunteer as tour guides. I have a few questions about the Park and would love for 2gypsies to PM me:CRe: Silverado bed height wirenutz wrote: wouldn't all this depend on what type of spring set up, wheel and tire package ? gmcsmoke wrote: No ???? I would think wheel/tire sizes and spring rates can make a difference:hRe: Oregon hwy. 26Easy route with no issues, enjoy!
