I just ordered one. Where did you install yours? I posted a couple pictures in this post mods for the battery side I bought a short cable (about a foot long and went from the negitive termanal to that, then everything else hooks up to the other side of the shunt so all draws are measured. mine is in a truck camper so I was limited for battery space so I had to move it out of the way a bit. it comes with a 6 foot cable but I ordered the 16 foot cable as well as 6 foot would have still been in the bathroom ;) Steve Just installed mine today. Much better than my other idea. Rather bright like a nightlight when disconnected from shore power. Might have to make a cover.Re: Correctly installing a 12v power meter after coach master timotb wrote: StirCrazy wrote: i use this one, so far I love it 1/6th the cost of the Victron and only doesnt show actual remaining amp hours, just percentage. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07FGFFHC6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Steve I like! I'm probably going to dump my one-way $20 ebay meter for something better. Keep the ideas coming! thanks much! Update: I did dump the ebay unit for the AiLi Voltmeter Ammeter Voltage as recommended by Stircrazy Steve. Now I have to find the best place to mount and installRe: Correctly installing a 12v power meter after coach master Big Katuna wrote: At the risk of sounding obvious and stupid; dvms measure the voltage of what their attached to. If you connect it to the battery then you measure the battery. If you connect it to a fuse panel inside the RV then you’re measuring the volts after lots of connections and other loads. No right or wrong. It just depends on what you are trying to measure. Most of my camping is off-grid. Have a 300 watt inverter and a single deep cycle battery that runs a 19" Samsung tv. Like to know how much battery is consumed while watching movies off-grid. One cold winter, I was running the propane furnace on the lowest setting overnight. Ran the battery so low I couldn't start the generator, had to run the engine for a while for the battery to catch up. This might not be the best meter to use. Found it cheap on ebay. What meters are most people installing?Re: Correctly installing a 12v power meter after coach master 2oldman wrote: I'm not sure why this has to be done after the master switch. My shunt/meter is right at the battery. It measures any current the coach uses, on the negative side. Thats a good point.Correctly installing a 12v power meter after coach masterI want to install a 12volt (Chinese manufactured) power monitor in my 2010 Winnebago sprinter RV ERA. Page1 of the PDF (below is the link) describes the power meter itself, page2 shows the manufacture's wiring diagram with my handwritten thinking where to insert the device immediately after the 12 volt coach master switch. Page3 is from Winnebagos online wiring schematic describing the coach master switch connections. It has 6 connections, labeled by two letters. It is my opinion that the meter should be installed between the top highlighted switch connections. KF (black) negative and LJ (red) positive. Am I right or completely wrong? Any comments? Thanks Here is the dropbox link to a three page PDF I made. >>> https://www.dropbox.com/s/l6x9ay1kfvgvaaq/Meter%20after%20Switch.pdf?dl=0Re: 12 volt water pump runs in bursts on hot side onlyProblem solved.....(drum roll).....It was the adjustable flow restrictor valve on the in-side. Manual said it was set by the factory to be full open. When I tried to move the valve, it was stuck and needed slight help from a plyers. Bottom line is was only 3/4 open. Fixed Thanks to all who commented here.Re: 12 volt water pump runs in bursts on hot side only MrWizard wrote: Sounds like a blockage somewhere For a test drain the water heater Open a hot water tap and turn on water pump If it does the same thing blockage is on the input side to heater Possibly a strainer ? If the it happens after the tankless fills up Blockage is on the output side of heater going to RV water system I know that doesn't sound right It just might be that you need to replace the water pump Could be flow has decreased thru/from the pump Remember this is a tankless water heater. Nothing to drain. I have been suspecting a failing pump.12 volt water pump runs in bursts on hot side onlyTroubleshooting an RV 12 volt electric water pump that runs in one second bursts on the HOT side (not allowing the Girard tankless hot water heater to fully activate). Pump runs constant and correctly on the COLD side. When connected to city water via a hose, both hot and cold run correctly. Problem only recently started. Tankless water heater working fine for two years. This is a on Winnebago 2010 ERA 170X but don't feel the issue is related to make and model. Suggestions/comments?
