I am guessing that when we had a bit of a "melt" two weeks ago, the snow that was on top of my camper, about 12 inches worth, must have found it's way down my refrigerator vent! There was ice on the refrigerator louvers (under the fridge), with water going across the back and into the bath room. Quite a bit too! I pulled the louver and did not see any water under the fridge. And no water spots on the ceiling. I spent an hour shoveling snow off of the roof of the camper. Now I am worried about the same situation with the camper on my farm! What sucks is that it is too cold to get the ice off the floor and I don't want to plug in a heater to melt things to quickly. So I piled up a bunch of towels in hopes that I can soak up most of it, as it melts. It is suppose to be above freezing this next week for the first time in a couple of weeks.Re: Adding Electric to Hot WaterI installed the Hott Rod in my RV and use only that to heat the water for showers and dishes. No problems at all and keeps up with my needs pretty well. If multiple showers, one after another, I will fire up the propane, but have yet to need to do that.Re: Question about main breakerThe above OP still has only 30 amps of service regardless of the 50 amp plug. The Service Panel in the RV determines the amount of amperage, in your case 30 amps. The 50 amp adapter works in situations where the campground breaker may be bad. On my unit we have a "sticky" on the microwave that says "turn AC OFF when using microwave!" Nothing wrong with your rig. I even added a couple of outlets inside my RV that are direct wired and separate from my RV service panel. A cord plugs into the campground's 20 amp plug and I use this to run fans or a heater in the winter time. By doing this I am not taking anything away from my 30 amp service panel. Just an idea for you.Re: Water heater bypassNot unusual to see a new RV that does NOT have a water heater bypass. When I bought mine I made sure that it came with the bypass already installed. Yea, I don't understand why the bypass isn't a factory install on ANY RV, for what little they cost!Re: Lessons we've learned over the yearsI have a Fiver at my farm and I learned that when leaving the camper for any period of time it is best to turn the water off at the hydrant! My son and I returned from a bow hunt to find that the water hose had split and water had been shooting out of the break for an unknown length of time! Also, it is a good idea to check your sewer hose when at a dump station. I made the connections and pulled the handle on the black tank only to see blue water start oozing from under the hose! Turned out that mice had built a nest inside my sewer hose and had also eaten a hole in it! Thankfully their nest had plugged the hose and kept it from being a much larger mess than it was. But you should have seen the look on my wife's face as we watched the hose start to bulge from the plug!!! It was exactly the same look as on Robin William's face on the movie RV!!!!!!!!!Re: Cool Mods - Thread restored 10/18/2012ttt for a great thread! Let's keep this one going!Re: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & GizmosI may have missed this since there are so many great ideas here, but here is my offering......... My wife bought a new car and had an extra storage "net" that goes across the trunk for placing items that may roll around the trunk. Well, I am too cheap to throw away anything useable so I took this net and hung it underneath our bed's storage area. We store rags, fishing tackle, and miscellaneous items that might get lost with the items on the floor. I hung this net with screw hooks, and through the eye of the screws I also place a 3/8" wooden dowel that I use to prop the bed up when opened. The gas struts were not strong enough to keep the bed up and I got tired of getting hit in the head! Thanks to all for your great postings, and I hope my small contribution will help someone as yours have helped me!Re: Cool Mods - Thread restored 10/18/2012Luvnevryminutofit Your rig is similar to the "toppop rails" bicycle rack, of which I own one! You will love your bikes being up front as almost all "bounce" is removed. The only difference I saw with your setup was that the "bars" seemed smaller in diameter, but if they worked on the rear of a vehicle they will be OK on the front of your TT!Re: Cool Mods - Thread restored 10/18/2012Hey fourcamping! Liked the TV mod! Where did you find the TP Holder/magazine combo? Looks like just the thing to have around!!! Nice job.
