All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: New Border RegulationsYes M, all u posted is correct. Westjets website has a page of up to date info and a link to Transport Canada. Generally rapid tests appear to be unacceptable. Some places in AZ may have better turnaround on 'regular' tests but so far in 85364 you can't expect/depend on a 72 hr turnaround. Also the gov't is looking at imposing the covid testing requirement at land ports. Stay tuned. Might have to take a ferry to Van Island unless they shut that off too.Re: New Border RegulationsYep our rocket scientist has really messed up. I read the req'ts today. Main problem is that rapid result tests will not be recognized. I phoned around Yuma and all providers have a 3-7 bus. day turnaround...tough to squeeze into 72 hours. Hopefully they fix it by the end of March.Re: Tire FailuresTo OP-your story makes me cringe, sorry for your nightmare. Trailer should have come with 'E' tires, D's are maxed out at that weight. I've been lucky with china bombs; got 15000 miles on a set of power tow e's without a problem. Just bought a set of goodyr marathons...fingers crossed.Re: Big truck woesTo OP, when I read your post the 1st thing that came to mind was, WOW!, pulling 38 ft with a 1/2ton. I have a 3/4 ton diesel, one ton diesel dually and this spring treated myself to a new Silverado 1500 LTZ. The diesels pull my heavy trailers. I also have a baby travel trailer, KZ Coyote 4600GVW I use for wknds. Two weeks ago, I thought I'd use the 'church' truck for a 400 mile round trip with the KZ. Plenty of power with 355 developed at some insane rpms but towing that little KZ no fun with body sway on every curve. I'll never tow again with the light truck. The bigger heavier trucks are much more stable even with a little TT; imo a heavier truck will make a huge difference with your long trailer.Re: Shawdirect in Yuma this winterThx for the replies. Couple things -Prior to this year we got good green signal strength with the HD receiver in Yuma. This year, we could only get as high as yellow 72 on the hd receiver and never green though the old receivers showed green strength signal. -Both at home and in the rv we have the old LNB's. For some reason, perhaps searching for the 3rd sat., the hd receiver, which had the online update from SD this summer, works perfectly at home but not in Yuma.Shawdirect in Yuma this winterWe brought down two old non hd receivers and the Essential 600 HD receiver. The old receivers (205 and 305) work perfectly. The hd receiver generally works but always has a few random stations which do not come in. It displays a message that 'signal has been lost, plse wait'. However the signal never does come in. More curious, the missing channels are different every day. We gave up on the hd receiver and are using the old ones. I am wondering if anyone else has this problem and if anyone knows the solution. thxSan Diego to Las Vegas-Stay on 15 or use 215 to skirt LA?We're driving SD to LV mid pm on a Tues. I see 215 thru Riverside as an alternate to staying on 15 just east of LA. Distance looks about the same. Which is the best route re time and traffic. thxRe: 2004 2500HD Heated SeatsThx for the replies....I hope its a short....and easy to find!2004 2500HD Heated SeatsOn the trip down to Yuma last week the heated seats were fine the 1st day. On the 2nd day and subsequently, the driver and passenger seat heat would both go on for perhaps 30 secs and then shut off. A week later they do the same thing........everything else works normally. Wondering if anyone has had the same problem and could point me to the fix, thanksRe: General Grabber HTS vs Firestone Transforce HTI bought 5 HTS's for my DMAX 2500HD 5 years ago and rotate them every 8-10000 miles. At the time these were the highest rated hwy all season LT tire. They were also one of the best bangs for the buck. I think I paid $126/tire for 265-75-16's at tirerack.......I note the price has gone up since. Most of the 50K miles on this set is towing a 34 ft FW. All of them get 80 psi towing and 70 psi not towing. They have all worn evenly and all have remaining tread well above the wear bars Next year I'll keep the best one as a spare and buy 4 more of the same.
