Perhaps someone knows this person? “I have 2.5 King shocks with Don Thuren valving. In addition to the shocks, the stock Dodge suspension has been upgraded to a Kore front coils and Lorenz rear leaves. It’s a huge enhancement in handling and pothole deflection.” – Dave Anderson, 2007 Dodge Ram 2500, 2000 Northstar TC800 Some other 'mentions' of Kings with TC but no real reports. Mostly towing big 5th wheel or TT. Going to call Thuren this week when I get some time.Re: Shocks which do you have and why?I recall reading that he had, only I can't find the thread. I seem to recall that it was for a dually with a larger AF on it. I found a thread with a set of Fox shocks but no Kings. Going to search a few other places.Re: Shocks which do you have and why?Is anybody running King shocks? I recall reading a few years ago that a few people had a custom set valved by Don Thuren. They got good reviews. I know the cost is $$$ compared to off the shelf shocks but really when you consider the totalprice of the rig with truck, camper, modifications and add-ons and maybe a boat in tow, they seem cheap. Like to know because I don't really like Ranchos and might just spring for a set to help control the 19.5's when empty.Re: Cracked Torklift Mount - DisappointedIn Connecticut the DOT is in love with this chemical they spray on before it snows. Other states like Maine have stopped using it due to how corrosive it is. They use a lot of it. It eats everything. My brother inlaw is a service manager at a dealrship and tells me they have techs that do nothing but replace rotted brake lines. His own GMC truck needed a new frame at 80k miles. This stuff is bad. I've managed to keep my Dodge mostly free of damage but it has been a chore. Coated the whole underside with Por-15 and touch it up every year. Coat everything with Fluid Film twice a year. Y'all really need to try Fluid Film. Nothing sticks to it and it keeps that green street goo away. As for Torklift - only had to ever call them once, for a missing part. Got it the next day. With all the free stuff you read about them giving away, the extra parts that get included just because and things replaced when stolen, lost or otherwise not their fault, I too wonder who the OP talked to.Re: 19.5 tires again-more input needed pleaseI run XDS2 drives and XZE steers range H on a Dodge 3500 6 speed. Overall I like the tires very much. They do make some noise. There is a slight sing at most speeds. The truck is very stable regardless of what I haul or tow. In the winter the tractionis OK from the xds2 but by no means would I call them a true winter tire. But then again I,m comparing them to the studded snows I run on other vehicles. Of course with some weight on they do better. I don't really off road in the mud or anything but I do run it around the farm and construction sites and it does fine with 4k in the bed while pulling a 10k trailer. The ride is a bit harsher than before when empty but I'm working on that and can live with what I,ve got if I had to. Mostly wheel and chassis hop. Suspension mods will help. I would have gone with load range G but the weight capcity gain was not very much over stock tires and my plan for now is that my next camper will be a large double or triple slide so range H. By the way - all six tires balanced with NO added weight. Well worth the $$ to buy good tires and get Road force, match balancing.Re: BRIDGESTONE BLIZZAK W965Let me clarify my previous post - the cars run regular Blizzaks and the vans run the W965's. The W965 being a LT tire. We ran the Ford with the 265/75-16 LR E W965. These have about a 3400 lb capaicity. Yes it is a slightly harder compound but they still wore much faster than a summer tire in warm weather. As I said that thing was great in the snow. Even empty it was OK. With some weight very good. I know we well overloaded those tires and then some. They did not feel very soft or squishy compared to summer tires. Of course they are nowhere near as stiff as a true commercial tire. I would run them on my truck in an instant if they made them in a 19.5 LR H.Re: BRIDGESTONE BLIZZAK W965I can't say on the truck as I've always run studs on my POV's but all the vehicles in our company fleet have always run Blizzak's including the cargo vans. Got them on 10 cars and 2 Sprinters now. Nothing is worse in the snow than an empty Econoline but those Blizzaks made them seem like 4 wheel drive. With some weight in there they would climb mountains. We overloaded the van greatly and the tires had no problem. I do recall that we had to special order them in the higher load ranges. They do wear fast if the outside temp is to warm. Get them off early in the spring.Re: Side Discharge Shower DrainsWhat you might be thinking of is a drum trap. Basically (in modern times) a plastic can with side inlet and discharge. Not used much except in tight situations or when frequent access is needed to retrieve lost objects.Re: Finding a Router bit used commonly in RV ConstructionWhat you Could use is called a pattern bit. It will have the bearing on the top of the bit to follow a pattern or other object you are cutting the opening to. Some will have pointed plunge type ends others flat ends depending on if you are through cutting or not. They are made for thinner/lighter cuts. These work OK for a few light duty cutouts but for thick material in one pass I prefer to use a heavy plunge bit with a templete guide attached to the router. We plunge hands holds in 3/4 poplar this way. It takes a powerful router to do this. We use 4hp 240v units in the prodution shop. There are plunge tip bits with the bearing on the bottom to follow a rear templete but they are hard to find and the bearing usually seases up from heat and debris real quickly.Re: first weekend out on the sledsReally nice setup. Love those sleds. I'm getting ready to seal the deal on a new Summit with the 154" track myself. Now we just need to get some of the white stuff... Do you take them in the real deep back country powder? How do you like them? Just curious as there are not too many here in the Northeast that want to go backcountry mountain riding. They just want to go 100mph to the next watering hole and resort with hot tubs.
