Got in the next day. Went smoothly except that she couldn't find a 2019 Solitude 374TH on NADA and started telling me I may have to go get it weighed. I don't think so. I used my phone to find a 374th for sale on the net at a dealer that had the empty weight number that she needed. Then she found it on NADA (to be fair, NADA did have it off in its own little corner). All is good (though poorer).Hey Michigan people, title and registration questionWe purchased a used trailer from private individual in Indiana many weeks ago. Of course we bought it during the pandemic shutdown, we are just dumb that way. I cannot get a straight answer out of SOS. They say they are open now for vehicle registrations, but they do not define "vehicle", as in does that include recreational vehicles (or motor RV's) or just cars and trucks. Has anyone from Michigan registered or title transferred of their trailer since June 1st?Re: Help in purchase of Carefree Alpine slide toppersThank you. I contacted them and will see what they reply.Help in purchase of Carefree Alpine slide toppersWe are going to be purchasing Carefree Alpine slide toppers. It appears we can purchase directly from Carefree, but wondering if there is a lower cost alternative. Have done quite a bit of searching, but really only RV Parts Country and possibly RV Upgrades seem the only other options. I don't know if they will order and sell to me 5 toppers of 4 different sizes, or just what they have laying around. I will contact tomorrow. So, I am looking for a recommendation of where else online to purchase the Alpine line. Can you help?Re: Alliance 5th Wheels smlranger wrote: goducks10 wrote: FlatBroke wrote: Three ACs and no seat in the shower. :h 3 AC's because there's no ducting. I believe Alliance uses 3 AC's because someone there recognized that 2 AC's may not be adequate in hot weather. I have a 2019 GD Solitude with 2 15K ducted AC units and we have problems getting it cool in hot and humid weather. That is with awnings deployed and sun shades on all windows exposed to direct sun. Grand Design should at least pre wire for a 3AC unit on their larger 5th wheels so the owner could easily add a 3rd AC if desired. What???!!! Even with their "40" R value roof!! Want a laugh, here is even a dealer making fun of manufacturers claims. Exposing False R values Full disclosure, we are in the process of selling our 11 Brookstone (that worked very well with one A/C) to buy a 17 Solitude. But eyes wide open.Re: New 5th Wheel ManufacturerWe looked at the Riverstone 39FKTH. Nice until I looked at the outside dumps. Who wants to crawl under an extended slideout to pull a dump valve. Really Riverstone?? Who are your buyers? High end and you can't put a valve handle in reach without crawling under the trailer?Re: double towingBeen carrying this for awhile, as we planned to travel there with our trailer/swivel wheel. California code Driver Licensing For Double Trailers - Nonresidents 12502. (a) The following persons may operate a motor vehicle in this state without obtaining a driver's license under this code: (1) A nonresident over the age of 18 years having in his or her immediate possession a valid driver's license issued by a foreign jurisdiction of which he or she is a resident, .... (b) Any person entitled to the exemption contained in subdivision (a), while operating, within this state, a commercial vehicle, as defined in subdivision (b) of Section 15210, shall have in his or her possession a current medical certificate of a type described in subdivision (c) of Section 12804.9, which has been issued within two years of the date of operation of that vehicle. 15210. (b) (1) "Commercial motor vehicle" means any vehicle or combination of vehicles which requires a class A or class B license, or a class C license with an endorsement issued pursuant to paragraph (4) of subdivision (a) of Section 15278. In summary, nonresidents may tow two trailers with a non-commercial license IF their base state allows it. IF the vehicle is commercial, the driver would also need a valid medical certificate per 12502 CVC.20k USA made hitch for rails? My options seem to be much less than I originally thought. I need a minimum 20k hitch, made in the USA, no slider, that is not sloppy and will work with my already installed rails. Suggestions?Re: For those with a slide topper under an awning fj12ryder wrote: We have the slide topper under the awning. It was no big deal to have installed since there was plenty of room to attach the slide topper under the awning mount. Thanks! So far the biggest hurdle is dealers/installers that think it cannot be done. Will get some measurements and pick out the topper that provides the least amount of intrusion over the slide, so when the awning is extended, it moves easily past the topper. And you are reading my mind on why. I have used toppers on my past two trailers and won't be without. For those with a slide topper under an awningWant to add a slide topper under an awning. Seen it on some rigs on Youtube, but no details. If you have this (like a slide topper over a dinette slideout) that also has an awning above that covers the slide when opened: 1) what brand and model of topper did you get? 2) what challenges were involved? TIA
