Not a great idea. Got the Superhitch.Re: Winegard Carryout loses signal without 12 voltYes, she means she moved the dome.Re: Winegard Carryout loses signal without 12 voltProblem solved thanks to bgum. With good signal strength, I didn't think to move the dome - still not sure what was causing the interruption. At any rate, everything is working correctly and THE 12 VOLT HAS BEEN DISCONNECTED!!Re: Winegard Carryout loses signal without 12 voltLook around in a rv park and see how many Carryouts are still connected to anything but the coax cable. I have used this for 3 years and have never left the 12 volt connected once the satellite was found!Re: Winegard Carryout loses signal without 12 voltIt does need 12 volt to find the satellite. Once it finds the satellite it can be unplugged from the 12 volt. The 12 volt is connected to the satellite. I have been using this for a few years, and I know for a fact it does not have to stay connected to 12 volt. Bgum, thanks - it is level but I will turn it.Winegard Carryout loses signal without 12 voltI have been using the Carryout for a few years as a full-timer. It worked Thursday. Today when I hooked it up, it worked fine until I unplugged it from the 12 volt. Tried it several times. It has a very good signal, perfect weather, etc. It is connected directly to the DVR. Any ideas?Re: Thinking of going FW...........HELP!!It took me one sightseeing trip across country with a 5th wheel to realize I didn't need to be hauling all that 'stuff' with me. Granted I travel alone, but a TC has so many advantages - easy to set up, travel to remote places, small enough for many State and National Parks, less maintenance (tires, wheel bearings, brakes, etc). I've been full timing in mine for over 2 years - 6 months of that with another person in here. Welcome to the forum and good luck with your decision!!Re: 50amp Surge Guard Needed or NotAnother vote for Progressive Industries!Re: I would like to start a conversation that has a lot of talkWalmart lot - anything goes. Just be kind and don't run it all night!!Re: Full Time truck CamperI've been full timing (that means 365 days 24/7) in TC for 2 1/2 years - just me except 6 months for trip to Alaska in the beginning when a friend went along. Got rid of the 5er and no regrets!! 3 years before that, I traveled in TC for 6 months of the year.
