All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Receiver Hitch for TrailerThis is how I solved the problem. An adjustable receiver welded to my TT frame. I've hauled 2 bikes to Alaska and back as well as numerous other trips without problem. It is available on etrailer.com Curt Adjustable Trailer Hitch Receiver - 18"-51" Wide - 2" Drop - Class III - 2"Re: Travel Trailer Brake ProblemIt is a 2018 TT so I am hesitant about rewiring the whole thing. I will explore the whole system again. I can never reduplicate it without driving hundreds of miles. I appreciate all the suggestions. I thought about replacing the magnet in the suspected wheel first.Travel Trailer Brake ProblemI have an intermittent problem with my TT brakes. I have a 2017 Chevy 2500 with the internal brake module. I recently drove 1000 miles without problem when the truck started alarming with the following message: Check Trailer Connection. It then almost immediately notifies me that the trailer is connected. It is accompanied by an alarm bell and it sometimes happens 3-5 times a minute. The 7 pin plug is in good shape and I can't duplicate the problem. Other than rewiring the entire brake system does anyone have any suggestions? Can a brake magnet go bad intermittently? This didn't start until one of the bolts holding the brake plate on came loose and rattled around in one wheel for hundreds of miles. The TT is a 2008 KZ and it seems unlikely that there is a wiring problem.Re: Jack it bike rackI purchased one at a garage sale for 75$. I let friends borrow it and this is their report: They have a "bulbous" front cap on their wildwood trailer which gets in the way of the Jack It. They also report that it is difficult to mount the bikes on the bike carrier due to the height. My friend is 6'1" and it is a stretch for them. They are choosing not to use it even though it was free.Re: Axle ServiceI pay about $100 wheel for repacking the wheel bearings at an RV shop. Don't really need "axle" work unless they are bent.Re: Blue Ridge Parkway - Early AprilWe drove the complete length of the Blue Ridge Parkway last summer with a TT that is 12ft in height. Several of the tunnels in the southernmost section were close to being too low but passable. We slowed down and drove through the "middle" without problems, just increased anxiety. There was a section in Virginia that was closed for construction which was easy to bypass. Don't expect to travel much faster than 30-40mph. I believe that it took about 4 days from Cherokee, NC to Shenandoah NP. Didn't have much trouble finding campsites and stayed at private, national forest, and state park campgrounds. We especially liked "Fairy Stone" state park in southern Virginia where we stayed for 3 days. Nice trip overall but a couple of days were rainy and we missed out on lots of beautiful views due to the clouds. We would do it again but only as a leisurely drive.Re: Death Valley NPWe stayed at Shoshone Village RV park outside the east entrance to Death Valley in 2018. It was a smaller RV park but we were very happy with it. Camped under the trees and used their swimming pool which was fed by a warm spring. They also had a nice nature trail which we enjoyed. Nothing really fancy but all the basics were there. We drove through Death Valley NP the next day. We had trouble finding a campground on the west side of Death Valley.Re: Franklin NC to Pigeon Forge TNIf I'm not mistaken, 18 wheelers travel this route. Just sayingRe: Great experience with Roadside AssistanceI know that there have been plenty of complaints about Good Sam's roadside assistance program but I have always had great service. I have used them about 5 times in the last 15 years and have never had problems. I do understand that there are many factors involved including where you happen to break down. I will continue to be a customer and believe that this is a good service for what you pay.Battery/Converter QuestionI want to take the battery out of my TT and connect it to a trickle charger for the winter. Is there any problem with leaving the TT plugged in without a load on the WCO converter?
