ThanksRe: 2005 Ford v10Thanks for the replies, for those of you that posted can you tell me how much you are towing with the v10? Thanks2005 Ford v10We are looking at a low mileage 2005 ford v10 gas with 4.10 gear ratio, 6.5 foot bed. We need to tow a Nuwa, max weight of fifth wheel 14,100. Tongue weight 1890. This truck has the tow package option. On paper it looks like it will do it but anyone actually use one of these to tow and how much do you tow? Concerns are stopping capability. Also how it will ride with the shorter bed. We Thanks zigpepBuying a diesel truck, low milesHello, looking at a 2006 dodge 3500 diesel dually with the 5.9 engine and manual 6 speed transmission. It only has 35,000 miles. Is this a good thing or bad thing? Anything we need to be looking for as far as possible issues? We have not seen it yet. Just doing the research, it is 6 hrs from us. The one concern we have is it has had 2 owners and the last owner did put 12,000 miles on it but only kept it a year. Seems odd to make a purchase like that and keep it for a year only. ZigpepFifth wheel hitch inspectionHello. We are driviing 6 hrs to see a 2006 dodge 350 diesel dually. It already has a Reese signature hitch installed. We already have a Nuwa 33.5 fifth wheel. We have no clue how to tell if the hitch is ok or not. What do we need to look at. Also is the age of the hitch an issue and how do we tell how old it is. Last but probably most important is there a way to tell if clearance will be an issue or if our RV will fit this truck clearance wise. Are there measurements we need to take? ThanksRe: Finding the truck, where to search? We looked at the Chevy and dodge but to tow that much weight we need a dually which we really don’t want, unless we get a much newer one which we cannot afford. One poster mentioned the dodges are cheaper and that is not so on the sites we have looked at the dodges are very high in price and the Duramax diesels even more so,Re: Finding the truck, where to search? Thanks for advice. After even more research today we have decided on the 350. Would love to get the 6.7 but the 2011 and newer probably out of our 25000 price range unleash we get really luckyFinding the truck, where to search?Hello, we hopefully have decided on the model and year range of the truck we want to tow our fifth wheel. We are looking at Ford F-250 super duty diesel 2008 or newer. We would love to find one already set up to tow a fifth wheel but having a hard time. We have called RV dealers, looked on auto trader, Craigslist and rvt.com, and RV trader.com. No real luck. Wondered it there was a website out there that I am missing? We are currently in CA but don’t mind traveling for the right truck. Thanks zigpepFord F-250 towHello, we have a fifth wheel with max weight of 14,300. We are no where near that but want to have a truck that tows over the 14,300. Fifth wheel is a 31.5 Nuwa. We have been searching for a truck for a while. Started out thinking we needed a 3500 duality but have seen so many Ford F-250 towing heavy fifth wheels we did a little more research and talked to a few people in campgrounds too. From what we can see we should be good with a 2008 or newer Ford F-250 diesel super duty Single wheel (dually not necessary), with the tow package option ( from what I can tell it is standard on the 250). My question is what are we missing? I’m sure there is something. I’ve checked the ford fleet tow ratings and we seem to be good. They have separate rating for conventional towing and fifth wheel towing on their websites. I really like the way they list the tow ratings, has been very difficult to find with dodge and Chevy. Initially our last choice was the ford. We know we don’t want anything older than the 2008 due to the issues with the 6.0 liter. This option also puts us at our price point of about 25,000. Any one know of anything we have not considered re tow capabilities and also any glaring issues or problems with the 2008 to 2011 ford 250 diesel super duty? Thanks zigpepRe: Cracks in end capThat actually looks more like the issue. The cracks look more like impact cracks than stress cracks. Should we check anything else? Any chance anything else damaged? Thanks
