Now is the time for those boisterous long bed guys to pony up. Me I have went thru 4 pick ups and a few fifth wheels and never towed with nothing but a short bed.

Also the stopping question got my attention. Guess cus I don't get it. I would hope the trailer has brakes that would stop its share of the task.

me if it is the hoss that I was looking for I would go for it. I tow with a short bed gasser but of the 6.2 variety.

2005’F350 should have disk brakes all around, trailer should also have good brakes.
Short bed with fiver is your choice just watch when turning or get a slider hitch.

I owned a 2002 F250, V10, 3.73 axle, Towed two different 5th wheels over 120,000 miles across USA and Canada with absolutely no problems. This was a long bed that was necessary with the "square nosed" older trailer I began with. The last trailer had a pin weight of 2350 pounds and approached the design limits of this truck but still managed trips through the Canadian Maritimes and New Mexico quite well. Really good luck with this truck. In 160,000 miles only changed oil,filters,tires and battery's, brake pads once.

2005 is when Ford upgraded the brakes, suspension and frame on the SD yet the body had few changes. My 2005 F250 was a work horse whether towing a tag toyhauler or carrying a truck camper while towing an enclosed trailer. Mine was a diesel, but it was a 4wd short bed with SuperCab.

Should be a great combo. Don’t be afraid to let the motor rev and enjoy those 10 thirsty sisters.

I had a 99 V10 and it was a great motor.

My trailer weighed about 7,000-7,500 ish loaded up. I also had a 4 passenger electric golf cart in the bed. Around 8,500 loaded up. Mine was 3.73 but I never had a single moments problem or struggle with that motor.

Mine had about 75 less HP than the one you are looking at.

I`m towing a 9200lb loaded TT that is 11.5ft tall with an 02 Excursion with the V-10 and 4.30 gears. I`m right at 18k lbs GCVW No.t sure if the 05 SD V-10 got the 5 speed trans?

Don't be afraid to let the V-10 rev! Mine routinely sees 4k rpm in the mountains. Check into a tuner from 5star tuning. It will really wake up that V-10/auto trans in the SD.

You`ll definitely want an auto slider hitch so you don't have to worry about 5`er to cab contact!

The F250 and F350 SRW were the same back then except for a 2” taller rear axle block and upper overload springs. If the F250 has the camper package option, it has heavier rated front coils, rear stabilizer bar and identical F350 rear suspension but still sits on the 2” shorter blocks.

*2003 was the start of 5R110 transmission that replaced the 4R100. 2005 was when the 3-valve version of the V10 was introduced and may be when they adopted the 5R110 in the gasser.
