When I purged the HW tank I removed the anode and with the water out came a semi clear jelly like substance, what is it?Re: Contemplating Class A from fifth wheelBy freightliner, I meant chassis, I believe even freightliners come with cummins engine, forgive me if im incorrect I know absolutely nothing about Class A's.Contemplating Class A from fifth wheelThe Wife and I have been looking at upgrading our fifth. The choices we have are larger fifth, bigger truck or Class A. By the time we add together the price of a newer fifth and newer dually truck we are into it for quite a bit of money. So I started looking at used Class A's, mainly ones based on freightliner chassis. I have some questions, probably not even limited to the few I spit out here. We Live in Canada but are both retiring soon (<5 years). We plan to travel to and from the US and pretty much Full time in our newer home. If you know the answers to the questions please post, but try keeping it specific to a Canadian licensed driver and plated vehicle. I'll start with a few basic ones on the vehicle. 1. What are the weights of 39 foot Class A's that are based on Freightliner chassis? 2. What drivers licenses do you need and/or certifications. 3. What are the registration fees for the vehicles? 4. What to look out for when looking at a Class A? ThanksRe: First Time Buyer...Updated 03/06/2006We're looking at stepping up to a class A from our fifth wheel. Does anybody know anything about ALFA SEE YA Class A's?FramesWhich fifth wheel manufacturers do not use lippert frames and use frames more robust like Fabex which Carriage was built upon?Re: TiresThat I dont know, but I think the one side is older than the other. The drivers side look a lot betterTiresOK. Im home, and safe ,thats what matters the most. We have a 2005 Carriage Cameo 27RKS, pulled by a Dodge Ram 2500 CTD shortbed, Airlift 5000, with a Superglide hitch. We were vacationing in SW Ontario at inlaws and the night before we left I saw rubber missing from one tire, decided to replace it at 10 PM. Thought this was a good Idea, a little preventative maintenance before the tire blows and I dont have to worry about major damage. Around 4 PM Saturday we pulled into a rest stop (wifes weak bladder). Everything looked ok, spare tire was functioning well. It was damn Hot, probably close to 100F. set off and about an hour down the road Max, I just glanced at the rear view and saw Smoke, checked other mirror, checked original one again still saw smoke. **** the engine Blew, but it didnt show any symptoms. Pulled over on the side of the 401 just 2 Km from Quebec border to find out what was going on. The tire behind the one I replaced with the shredded one was shredded like cheese. Powdered rubbed was sitting on the road as well. No major damage, rubber scuff marks on the wheel cowling which can be fixed easily. It took more than 2 hours to find someone to come change the tire (no tools at the time). And on the side of the 401 thats hairy. The tires on the trailer when I got it are Goodyear Marathon ST 235/80R16. I replaced that tire with the only tore within 100 miles on a Sunday its a Carlisle ST 235/80R16, load range is E instead of the Goodyear's D. I have read abouty crappy tires before and cant remember if these are one of the brands. Can someone Help me.Re: US satellite reception for a Canadian in the US. lryrob9301 wrote: Popsie wrote: It seems that you could join Escapees and set up a mail address in Texas. Then you should be able to sign up for Dish or DirecTV services for use in the US. The problem with this is both Dish and Direct require a USA credit card for billing. That's what I have been told as well.US satellite reception for a Canadian in the US.This may be in the wrong forum, please let me know if it is. I am a Canadian that spends a large amount of time in the US in the winter. Canadian satellites do not work past a few hundred miles inside the US, if not less than that now. I would like to have satellite TV when staying in the US. Are there any Canadian's that have accomplished this with ease, if so how. I know I need a dish that has a LNB for the provider in the US, but the local RV dealer is tellin me I need a US billing address or American credit card, can anyone elaborate on their experiences please.
