All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: No Sound -- Media Player -- puzzled -I have the same Asus setup as you do, and media player works fine on mine, so compatibility should not be the problem. I have had several little quirks with the Asus and when I have one I go back and restore to an early time when everything was working. That has always solved my problems. GuyRe: Cordless drill for scissor jacksAs others have said, you do not need a powerful drill if you screws are properly lubed. I use a 15 year old 12v DeWalt with very old batteries and a single charge will get me thru several trips. GuyRe: Building Driveway Ramps"Use Marine Grade treated boards.....they last years under water." This is correct. Most people are not aware of the fact that there different grades of treated lumber. The cheapest stuff is meant for above ground use where it can air dry.Re: Cell phone or Walkie Talkie for 8 YO DGDI believe in preparing for anything that is possible, and would go with walkie talkies and a lot of good training. My kids knew how to operate my radios at that age. But, as a 50 some year operator and a former two way radio technician, I can guarantee you that you will not get anywhere near 25 miles of communication, unless you are going from one mountain top to another. Your maximum usable range will be more like 1 mile or less, depending on how much interference you have at the time. Still, that's better than nothing. GuyRe: Outrun your rear camera? When I was towing with my 97 GMC or my 99 Suburban I had no problems using my wireless system even from the back of the trailer. However, when I got my new 2011 GMC I could no longer get the camera to work even from the back bumper of the truck if the engine was running. Engine off perfectly clear picture even on the back of the trailer. Engine on, nothing but garbage. I'm a retired electronics tech and I could not fine the problem, and neither could the GMC dealer. I just gave up on it. GuyRe: Clearance lights on at the campgroundAnother vote for no unnecessary lights at night, just enough to find your camper and see what you are doing. When you turn in for the evening all lights out so the rest of us can enjoy the stars. GuyMRe: Electrical IssueI'm a retired electrician & I have seen this problem many times. Like the posters before me have said, I'm going to bet there is a GFCI someplace. But, there could also be a problem with one of the two outlets that aren't working. Heaters draw a lot of power and it's possible that one of the outlets went bad from the heavy current draw. GuyRe: Strange "pink stuff" freezing problemThis is the last year for "pink stuff" in my lines. I blew mine out last fall and put in what little "pink stuff" I had left from last year. I then bought another gallon and set it inside the camper planning on putting it in the lines when I had time. I never got to it and when I checked on the camper a couple of weeks ago the gallon of "pink stuff" had turned to almost solid slush and bulged the container enough that I was concerned about it breaking if I left it in the camper. According to the thermometer in the camper the lowest temp was -18. GuyRe: Toll thru Chicago on I80I only travel the Illinois Tollway once a year. I drive thru them then when I get home I go to the site below and pay the tolls. There are signs along the tollway instructing you to do this if you miss the toll both. www.illinoistollway.com Tolls and I-PASS Unpaid Tolls Tolls and I-PASS About I-PASS Manage My I-PASS Account Toll Information Unpaid Tolls Unpaid Toll Opening Page Violations Customer Service Fleet Customers Unpaid Toll? Haga clic aqui para information en EspaƱol Watch the video. We understand that mistakes happen. At times, customers who pay cash may find themselves in an unattended toll plaza lane or in an I-PASS Only lane. If this happens, continue driving forward. Do not back up at any time--it is unsafe. Make note of your location by identifying the toll plaza name or number or the nearest milepost. You will be required to identify the unpaid toll location when submitting your payment. Be sure to go online or pay by mail within the 7-day grace period. Payments can be made online or by mail, though online payment is recommended because it provides a record of transmission within the 7-day grace period. If you experience problems in processing an online payment, you also have the option of mailing your payment for the unpaid tollRe: 5.7L Vortec vs. 5.3L VortecI used to pull my 5000lb. trailer with a '97 GMC 5.7, now I pull with a '11 GMC 5.3. The 5.3 will actually accelerate faster than the 5.7, 6 speed tranny verses 4 speed. Once up to speed the 5.7 had more passing power when I came upon a slower vehicle. The 5.7 had a lot more braking power than the 5.3. The 5.3 has very little even when pulled down into 2nd gear, so I end up using a lot more brake pedal with the 5.3. Guy
