I am sure that Geza has a web site, so check it out, it has worked fine for me. RayRe: Help with Dish NetworkWay to go forum, what great info, was not sure I could use a hopper, but now I see I can, I also called and asked Winegard and they said you could use any receiver, Dish is a mess, but at least I now know what I need. I will buy from a supplier on line, think I am going with two 722's that will allow for watching and recording in both bedroom and main cabin, will run the SD to the outside TV. Again thanks for all your help. RayHelp with Dish NetworkJust purchased a new to us 2013 Anthem, it has a Dish Hi Def dish on it, I have never dealt with Dish and am getting all sorts of conflicting stories from them. If anyone has Dish maybe they can help, I have a SK 1000 dish, it has 3 LNB's and is Hi Def. I can only get a mobile account, and have to buy my equipment, no problem, but I go to buy equipment and I am being told that I can not get a DVR that will work with my dish. I must use a 211z, I think is the number, This only allows for single watching and no recording. But other people say a 722 will work, this allows you to record and watch plus also feeds a second tv in standard def. Can anyone tell me if the are using Dish with hi def and what receivers they are using? Thank, RayDriving in CanadaThis topic has been moved to another forum. You can read it here: 28074153Driving in CanadaWe are going to Canada next summer and stay around three months. At our weekly get together Friday, I was talking to someone from Canada and he said great we will really enjoy the country. And then he said make sure you have a CDL license because in Canada they require a special license for anything in excess of a certain weight, of which we would be. I have driven in Canada before, but never been stopped or in a wreck, my major concern would be a wreck, not have the proper license and have a liability issue. Does anyone know for sure that Americans would need a special license or does Canada accept our license as legal if it is legal in the USA? Thanks for any help. RayEstablishing a DomicileSince we just became full time RVer's, this is a first for us to try and determine where and how to become domiciled in a state of our choice. I posted some questions in the Class A forum and someone suggested that I look in this forum, never knew it even existed. There is a lot of information about domiciles. Most in the last couple of days I have tried to read. I would like to take this time to add a little of my experience to the conversation. I have been a cpa for 40 years in the state of Florida and have helped many people establish Florida domicile in order to save income and estate taxes. I have had challenges from California, New York, Minnesota and New Jersey. Other states have inquired but never challenged. I feel I have a fair understanding of the requirement for being domiciled in a state. The following discussion will concentrate on the requirements to be domiciled in a state. Please don't confuse this with needing a physical address, this is a result of the patriot act to combat terrorism, so this must happen no matter where you have declared your domicile. A domicile is your dedicated home state, it can be almost anywhere you choose. The only problem is if a state decides it would like to determine that in fact you are domiciled in that state and they start to levy taxes upon you. Florida has always been a haven for northeastern residents to flock too, and as long as the rules are obeyed it is no problem. Of course you file your domicile papers in any state you like, but for my example, Florida will work as well as any. After you file your papers, get drivers license, register to vote, change your insurance you declare you have a Florida domicile, only trouble is that you go back to New York for 184 days a year. It does not matter what you did in Florida, the rules in New York say that if you are in the state for more than 1/2 the year then your domicile is NEW YORK. PERIOD. Does not matter what you did in Florida. This is also true I am sure in Minnesota, New Jersey and California. Because you try, you must actually be. Any less and the laws of the state you are in will be upheld. And I do mean it gets done to counting days. MN actually counts as a full day any day that you are in the state. So if you would like to become a SD domicile, SD says you only need to be there one day. Great, you qualify under SD law. BUT if you spend 183 days in Florida, then your domicile is Florida. If you buy a new motorhome you would owe sales tax in Florida. Pick any other state, I do not know for sure but logic says that if you spend more than 1/2 year in that state, then you are domiciled there. And yes it could get as dumb as being domiciled in different states every year. Now what I have just spelled out may be the legal answer, but in practically it is really hard for the states to follow all of this, it really only comes to light if the state wants to press it, wants to collect income tax, sales tax etc. As for myself, I would like my wife to become a SD domicile, buy a new motorhome and register it in SD. But we have to be real careful as to the number of days we spend in Florida. She will qualify for SD because we will spend a night there, but then we have to make sure she is not in Florida for more the the required time, and Florida is getting worst about this because they want the sales tax, ask friend who just payed sales tax on new Prevost who thought he had system beat!! So just a word of caution, just because you think your domicile is a certain state, don't give any other state a claim to you. And please don't say you have always done it this way and no one has said anything, all that means is no one has questioned, when they do that is the painful time because you will lose. Don't forget there are just not that many audits or questions about your domicile until at the crucial moment when you least expect it, it pops up, be prepared and do it right and sleep tight. Just saw a saying on back of motorhome today, loved it "Wish welfare was as hard to obtain as a building permit" Good Luck All, sorry to bore you.Re: Full Timing as of tomorrow at 10:00 am!!!I would like to thank everyone for the good wishes and the information. I need not realize there was a full timimg section to RV.NET, so I have spent some time reviewing the domicile and residency comments. I have 40 years experience as a CPA, and have dealt with establishing Florida domiciles to avoid probate and income tax for years. I am going to the full time section and try to write a guide to establishing domiciles. There are a lot of good comments and suggestions on that section, but some misinformation. Any interest take a peak, and again thanks for info.Re: Full Timing as of tomorrow at 10:00 am!!!Dog gone it, could swore I said any help out there, should don't want to leave any one out, more the merry.Full Timing as of tomorrow at 10:00 am!!!Well the day has arrived that we will actually be fulltimers. We close on our stick house tomorrow at 10:00 am. As we have lived in Florida we have been fortunate enough over the years to travel all summer in the motorhome so we are not strangers to spending four to five months of the year in the motorhome. But with the sale of the house things will become a little different, no "home" to come home to. We will continue to spend winter in Florida, we will just resident in the motorhome. But being full time does bring up some questions that were not important before, but not seem more meaningful. Any help with the following from the years of experience out there would be helpful. Just a quick side note, we are traveling out west at the moment, motorhome is sitting in Hood River,OR. Got call all cash buyer, full price, had to leave our trip, fly home and clean out house, rent storage units, hire packers, movers, dump runs all in less than a week over a holiday weekend, been a little busy but got it all done and headed to Hood River from Tampa tomorrow at 4 to reunite with our HOME. Questions: 1: Should I change my insurance policy to let them know we are now full time? I have always had full coverage, does anything change? Is it more or less expensive if you are full time? 2: P O Box is taken care of as family will pick up mail and forward to where ever we happen to need it, most stuff is e mail anyway so not really worried about mail. BUT, what about physical address for passport, investment accounts, bank accounts, all of these items say they required a physical address, how is that handled? 3:State of Residency, at moment we are Florida residents and probably will be this year. But since we are out west would it make sense to become a South Dakota or Montana resident if we decide to upgrade and purchase a new motorhome, Florida sales tax is 6%. Even the purchase of a new car could be $1,500 savings. I know a lot of people have Montana LLC, but they have a 1/2% fee of the value of the motorhome each year, cost of insurance more because of being inside a "business" instead of personal? Any experience with state of residence would be most grateful, and yes I will do search engine and see what I find, but always fun to see the responses. 4: Any other useful info that I forgot, which probably covers a lot, but don't forget we are used to traveling in the motorhome for long periods of time so living conditions, parks, traveling, maintenance, etc. pretty used too, it is just the unknown of the full time differences. ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FULL TIMING!!!!!!!! Thanks everyoneOregon rt. 138 com I-5 to Diamond Lake.As part of our summer trip we are planning to go to crater lake. Is rt 138 a decent road to take a 40 ft motor home and toad on? As always all help is appreciated.
