I'll do my own homework with the SC DMV, of course, but I wonder if anyone can tell me now how to handle stuff like signing the title, getting anything notarized, what to do with the SC license plate, etc. For example, if my wife and I are both on the title, do we both need to sign it to sell the rig? If our sigs need to be notarized and she signs in SC but I don't sign until I'm in VA with the buyer to get my $ and hand over the title and the rig, do my wife and I both need our sigs notarized and can we both do that separately in different states at different times? Any help at all gratefully appreciated! Thanks in advance.Re: Smart and dumb ways to handle $ when selling my rvHey. Saturday afternoon here now. Great advice everyone. Thank you all very much. I should have said in my OP that seller is in SC and buyer is in VA. So both of us going to the buyer's bank would take some effort, but since the rig would have to get to VA if sold we could work out something. Still, I'm leaning strongly toward the wire xfr. I'll talk to my bank to make sure I understand how it works from my end. The other piece of super great advice one of you gave me that I had completely overlooked is to make sure I know to handle the title, the signature on it, the registration, telling my state I've sold the rig, what to do with my SC license plate, etc. and I guess I'd need to cancel my insurance asap after the sale too, to get as much rebate of annual premium as I can. Thank you all vestry mich. Keep those cards and letters coming, however. It's obvious I've started an interesting thread here!Smart and dumb ways to handle $ when selling my rvI'm working on selling my rv. I may have a serious buyer. I've heard about payment scams, problems with cashiers check that bounce weeks after the seller thinks they've cleared and the $ is in your bank, etc. I've heard that setting up an escrow acct could work. I've heard "drive your rig to the buyer's bank with the buyer and stand there while the buyer's bank hands you the selling price in cash"! Sounds a bit extreme but maybe that'd be worth it. So what ARE some good and dumb ways for seller and buyer to seal the deal when it's time to do that? I need all the advice I can get, please! And thx in advance. TomPower tongue jack weak batteryI've got an Atwood power jack on my tongue. It's hooked into the rv battery of course. Lately, when I'm hooking up at home for a trip, it seems as if the jack is very sluggish even though I know the rv battery itself is fully charged. I keep the rv plugged in full time at home. When I back up the truck and plug the rv into the truck battery connection the power jack works fine. So is the problem likely with the connection from the jack to the rv battery? Not with the tongue jack motor itself, which does seem to work fine when connected to the truck and running off the truck battery? I just want suggestions where to start looking first for the culprit. Thx.Online sites to list RV for saleI would like opinions pro and con for some online sites such as CW and others, where I can list my RV for sale. I'm aware I could just search sites myself and I will, of course. But I'm also interested in other RVers' experiences with sites that either are or are not worth my time. And I'd like opinions, please, on the effectiveness of Craigslist, since it's nearly ubiquitous these days. Thx, everyone.Leave equalizer j-hooks on bars when leveling and attachedEqualizer question. Occasionally on an overnight stop I find I don't need to disconnect the truck from the hitch to level the rig front to back. I can simply raise the rv and truck together. In this case, should I remove the cotter pins from the j-hooks on the trailer ends of the bars, to let the bars "float" of their own accord as I raise the rv and truck? Or should I leave everything rigidly attached as it is while we are under way? Or doesn't it matter?Re: Good online campground review websiteOk. Thanks for the tutorial! Clearly I haven't been using rvparkreviews correctly. I'll see if I can do it how you've explained.Re: Good online campground review websiteHey thx. Keep those opinions comin' folks. But for what it's worth: I detest trip advisor for lots of reasons none of which have anything to do with RVing. I won't elaborate because I don't want to hijack my own thread. As for rvparkreviews being easy to move around: I guess maybe I could use a tutorial! I hate how hard it is, when I know where I want to go, to simply go to the site, key in the city and state I want to see reviews for, and get any hits at all! That NEVER works for me!?? Even if I only key in the state abbreviation it reports "nothing found" or words to that effect! That ridiculous! If someone could help get me past that fatal flaw, I might consider trying it again! I do agree of course that once you do find reviews you need to do a LOT of your own due diligence! Esp with respect to reviews that have good things to say about a place except they moan and bad mouth the place because they couldn't get good wifi or a cable or satellite TV signal, fer cripes sake! Gimme a break! You're camping, people!!! If having good wifi or tv is what you value most when you're in your rv, maybe RVing isn't how you should how you should spend a lot of your leisure time and money! Anyway. Thx again for the idea of rv parky. Hadn't heard of that one. Gotta try it.Good online campground review websiteI used to use rvparkreviews.com to see what other RVers think about possible campgrounds where I'm headed, but I haven't for a few years. Theyve changed it. IMO it's harder to navigate and use. And I'm not seeing all that many really current reviews of places in the SE US where I live. That suggests to me that RVers may be gravitating to alternative sites. What other good credible online campground review websites do you folks use?Re: Best way to check trlr brakes AND integr brake controllerHi guys. Thanks! I'm replying to all answers so far, in one reply. So if you are watching the thread to see what I'm saying, you may have to sort through this to figure out which part of it is my followup to what you said. 1. I forgot to add that while I was driving down the road, I did turn the gain up to 8 for a while. When I pinched the buttons on the dashboard, I did NOT feel that the tug (as one of you calls it; good term) was any more pronounced than when the gain was at 6. That did tend to reinforce my suspicion that the brakes need adjusting. I did not think of testing the manual brake buttons on the dashboard while at a full stop. I can't do that now, cuz the rig's at the shop, but I'll remember that! 2. I agree the trailer has been idle for nearly 9 months. I wondered what effect that would have, and I noted one of your replies said that that could, in fact, have some effect. 3. I'm not in a position to do anything myself, so at the moment I'll just wait to see what my RV center does for me, if anything! I've thought before that I might need to shop for another servicing site! There aren't that many nearby but there must be some others somewhere! I was also unaware of the "self adjust feature while backing up". I'll remember that, too, in the future, once the rig gets back from the repair shop. Thx again.
