I'm interested in knowing what forms and items I will need to do it properly. I'm told that if the unit is skirted and tied down there is no sales tax. I was also told the buyer and seller must furnish photo ID's. I found a form titled Trailer Verification Statement of Fact to complete. Any experiences would be appreciated.Re: RGV ten year trendOur mobile home and rv park is basically a senior cooperative and has 45 RV lots to rent. Generally about 80% of the rv lots are rented. There are 320+ lots in total. The share holder lots are 95% full. Our maintenance fees are quite reasonable and the there is not a lot of properties for sale. We are getting quite a few inquires from non-rv people wishing to rent a place for short duration stays, but the supply does not match the demand. A lot of our RV renters are regulars with a few new ones each year. I think the biggest barriers for the RGV are the negative publicity caused by proximity to Mexico, the demographics of the mid-western farm population, and the costs to pull an RV.Re: How full RVGI'm sure you can find an RV Park in the RGV for as long as you want to stay. The Mobile Home and RV Park I am in has 20 lots for rent right now. It is a nice park with plenty of activities and close to restaurants, groceries, health care (VA a block away), etc. Here is a link: PPIRe: End of seasonIt has been a great winter here in the RGV. The weather has been great, we have been healthy, and plenty of things to do. We are not leaving for another four weeks so there is more time to go to the beach, play some golf, and organize a cookout.Re: Who else feels the pull to head north.I have no urgency to head north. The wife is mentally feeling ready, but not anxious since we prepared to stay into April. We have headed north too soon and too often only to stare out at snow and frost. We will head north around April 10 and take our time doing it. Nothing to rush home for.Re: Average Monthly Cost-Electricity When Snowbirding Nov-MarchWe have a park model that is heated electrically. We have an electric clothes dryer, which my wife uses once a day. This winter has been very nice temp wise in the RGV and we have used the air conditioner quite often in the afternoon. Our electric bill has averaged $45.00/mo for January and February and since I own my lot I pay $9.00/mo meter fee. Most of the RV owners are paying less than $30.00 per month for electric. Plenty of places to get propane for less than $20.00.Re: Park status sound off. colliehauler wrote: I have never been to RGV but it does not sound like it has much to do. Just warm weather is not enough of a draw for me to come down and sit inside my RV. What activity's are there for people in there 50's? In my summer seasonal site I have a UTV with trails to ride on. A chain of three large lakes to take the pontoon boat on. Lots of scenic roads to ride the motorcycle on. Lots of trails to take the Collies for a walk on. Are there any parks that cater to the active lifestyle? It sounds like my parents would have loved the Big Band and dancing but they passed away 20 years ago. I understand your desire to go to a place with an active lifestyle. I believe you can have one in the RGV, but matching your interest with what is available takes some effort. A typical week for me involves playing nine holes of golf on Monday, playing some eight ball on Tuesday, going bowling on Thursday and playing some cards with friends during the evening. If I desired I could get involved in senior activities, like senior olympics, softball, and pickle ball as examples. For us a trip over to South Padre Island to walk the beach is always relaxing and enjoyable walk. There are parks with tennis courts. The one thing people forget is the RGV gets daylight for a bout 10 to 11 hours during January. It allows you to get outside for longer periods of time.Re: Park status sound off.The 55+ mobile home and rv park we are in only has 144 rv lots, but 45 of the lots are for public rental. We have a few more rv lot renters than last year, but certainly not full. The park is a shareholder arrangement where your share buys a lot certificate. Our Canadian regulars did make it down, but really no new visitors from the north. I haven't been to other RGV parks, but on the trip south in late December we saw very few RV's.Re: For Sale signs in the RGVThe RGV park I am in has about the same number of listings as in the past. Actually the inventory for sale after spring 2014 was the lowest in the past five years. Prices vary for mobiles from $20,000 to over $100,000 if it is double wide manufactured home. Most are in the $40K range. There are a limited number of park models for sale. Where I see the distressed market is the RV lots for sale. They can be had for a fraction of what people once paid. The park is offering to give away lots to individuals that will agree to place a park model on one for four years. All the person has to do is pay the annual dues. We are seeing more baby boomer since last year.Re: Health InsuranceCan you find an approved plan for Florida that would allow care in Virginia? If you can then think about switching your address to Florida, since you spend up to 6 months there. Florida does not have a state income tax and the savings could help pay for a policy that meets your needs.
