It has been good for 3 years so far.Re: Electric Brakes questionOne last question that just came up. I see that BOTH wires on the NEW brakes are black colored. Since they are both the same, I assume this means there is no issue with polarity ? BOTH of the wires on the original are white, but again don't appear to have any polarity issue. Can anyone confirm or offer suggestions for insuring they are connected correctly for best performance.Electric Brakes questionI am replacing the brakes on my 35' Fifth wheel this year. I have purchased the entire 12" X 2" 7K, brakes including backing plate. My question is what is the best way to make the electrical connections so that they do not come loose ? I don't know if I should solder and then use shrink tape, or solder and use wire nuts, or something else. Primarily keep the connection solid, dry, and prevent accidental grounding or shorts. Anyone that has other suggestions or things to watch out for would be appreciated. I have good mechanical experience, and have replaced brakes before, just never electric.Re: Dometic 15K Duo-Therm QuestionThanks Chris Really appreciate your help.Dometic 15K Duo-Therm QuestionMy A/C is having issues cooling properly. I frequently experience freezing of the coils. I took the inside cover off today and it appears the freeze sensor may be loose, and the coils appear to have some minor dust accumulation. I do not have enough clearance to access the coils from the inside. I want to reattach the freeze sensor as well as give the coils a good cleaning. Does anyone know if both the outside coils and the inside coils can be accessed from the top of the RV after removing the cover. Thanks for any help you can provide.Domectic Fridge in Stand-Alone modI took my RM2862 fridge out of my RV and would like to run it on AC power only for a period of time while it is sitting in my garage. I have access to 120V but it appears it must also need 12V for the controller board(s). Does anyone have a suggestion for how to get 12V attached without having to bring a 12V battery into the garage ? I don't want to have to remove one from either my RV or my vehicles during this test period. I was hoping someone knew of a way to attach a 110V-12V adapter or something similar to the 12V leads. Also, what are the AMP's needed, as an adapter may not be a solution if only a few milliamps can be provided. Maybe attach a 12V battery charger alligator clip directly to some 12-14 gauge wire pigtails. Thanks for any help.Re: Replacing brakesNeal10a The only difference I have been able to determine is the magnet size. The 7K is slightly larger than the 6K. All other springs, shoes and other parts are exactly the same. This results in a slightly more aggressive braking action which can be adjusted for with the controller.Replacing brakesI currently have twin 6K axles with the 12X2" electric brakes with 5 hole backing plates. I was thinking of replacing them with the entire kit (backing plate and all) using the 12X2" 7K sets. These have the same 5 hole configuration for attaching to the axle. I have been told the only difference between the 6K and 7K is the 7K has a slightly larger magnet. If this is the case, then a minor adjustment to the brake controller should control the more aggressive braking of the larger magnet. Has anyone done this ? Does anyone see any issues with this ? Thanks for any responses.Re: Residential RefrigeratorNow I am curious ! Which brands and model numbers are you all talking about in these residential refrigerators ??? Do any of them come close to fitting into a normal 8 cu/ft RV fridge space ??? I do not have any additional space to enlarge for something that is not a close fit to existing cutout.Re: Opinions Dometic or Norcold refrigerator jetcare wrote: The N841 ammonia filled Norcold refrigerator in no longer in production and the new NX 841 is the replacement. It has the new Helium filled cooling unit. Are you sure about this unit being Helium Filled ??? I have not been able to find any mention of this in the Norcold product literature. Also, it appears the Dometic is slightly larger, will this cause appearance issues ? will I need to retrim the opening ???
