These are available at dollar stores. RV refrigerators rely on convection currents to cool and large items impede this flow. Gerry excellent suggestion! thanksRe: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos 4BeachCampers wrote: I'm thinking this is NOT a new idea - but after scrolling through the many, many pages of this thread I don't see it anywhere... When it's time for a camping trip, I pull out 3 clear plastic shoeboxes (no lids) and put them in our home refrigerator. I pre-pack our refrigerated food into the shoeboxes ahead of time. I don't have to wait for our trailer fridge to get cold. Allows me to pack our food with ease and no headaches... at the last minute, I take the shoeboxes out to the trailer and put them in the fridge - voila... the fridge is packed in a jiffy! The shoeboxes make it really easy to find stuff too. In addition, we had butcher block sink covers custom made for us... one for each side of the sink. When we reach camp, one usually goes outside by the stove and the other stays inside. I think they are terrific! EXCELLENT IDEA! ThanksRe: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & GizmosI subscribe to the emails...so always glad to see new ideas. I keep a bottle of "skin so soft" oil in the sink in the bathroom, and when I once had ants from the outside into the cabinets, wiped some "skin so soft" on the cabinets and I've never had a problem, even though my motorhome is stored in an area where I often see ants on the ground!Re: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & GizmosOnce I left some orange scones in the cabinet...and yes, the ants marched in one by one.... After I cleaned them all up, I wiped some Avon skin so soft (oil verison) on the cabinets and toward the trail where they came in. I now keep a bottle of skin so soft in the bathroom sink when I'm not using my motorhome- and put dryer sheets on the floor. I'm parked outside, with tires up against dirt/bushes- and I've never had a problem since-- (I also know not to leave any "sweets" or perishables in there!Re: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos Cruzette wrote: campandride - about foam toppers wrote: I've thought about doing this...so....what's the verdict? Class C or Class A? Bed over cab, wondering if the extra few inches would impact "roll over space".... :-) Campandride, I bought a 3 inch foam topper for our 5er, it made a world of difference. I bought it at Overstock.com Hi/Thanks Judy! Seems like 3" would be too thick....I think I'll go for a 1-1/2 to 2" topper (although my bed is very comfortable and I sleep just fine, but a memory foam topper would make it all that much more comfortable!) I'm afraid with 3", I would be too close to the ceiling!!! :-)Re: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos B Traveler wrote: I bought a memory foam mattress topper, and had to cut it down a little to fit my bed. My batteries are under my steps and the back cells are hard to reach. I normally use a sports drink bottle filled with distilled water and squirt water into the cells as needed. However, with the "difficult" cells, I discovered that a Fleets enema container does a really good job. Don't ask why I have the container. Just empty the contents and fill with distilled water. The tube on the bottle gives you the extra reach you need to get to the battery cells and the bottle is small enough to control. There is also a cap for the bottle to prevent spilling when not in use. excellent idea. thanksRe: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos Jim102 wrote: We have a couple of cabnites that my wife wants a shelf in. Does anyone have an idea on how to add a shelf? Just one to hold spices etc. Thanks, Jim Add those white/metal (coated w/plastic) shelves-- you could screw the spice rack shelf onto the existing shelf. I also use those white stand up shelves to make double shelves in the cabinets...they come in many different sizes and configurations...check out Target/Walmart/Kmart in Housewares/Kitchen sectionRe: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmosgreat hints! For a great "ice cream" snack when camping, buy "Dibs"- little chocolate covered/flavored ice cream squares, 60 to a box, and they don't take up much room in the motorhome refrigerator and are very tasty and satisfy that sweet craving!Re: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmosgreat site!
