As others have noted, it's not technically an RV, it's cargo. I declared it and was able to deduct our personal exemptions and just pay tax on the balance. I suspect it would be the same for you.Re: fridge doesn't work on propane.Same fridge, same problem, from new. I used a coupe of twist ties to clean out the tube. There was something blocking the vent holes in the top of the tube, once I got it cleaned out everything worked fine.Re: Newbie trying to match a TC to my 1500 HDI have basically the same truck, but 4x2. The 1500HD quadrasteer is not well understood, it was designed for trailering and carrying. The rear wheel track is 5 inches or so wider than the standard truck and has load-adjustable rear shocks. I carry a 2600 lb loaded camper with no issues over 20,000 miles so far. I do have stableloads installed and highly recommend them. You will be amazed at how well your truck handles in 4-wheel steer mode with a camper on. My only concern for you would be the added weight of a boat but you should be fine with any camper in the 2000 lb range. p.s. My scale weight with 2 people and loaded for long-distance travel is 8550 lbs.Re: Single Battery Enough?I think your 865 has the same furnace as my 825. It only draws 1.8 amps, so I've never had a problem running the heat all night at below freezing temps on a single group 27 deep cycle. Thermostat set to 55 or so. We've done it consecutive nights with just the truck charging in between. In the interest of full disclosure, I also made the error of trying to run the fridge on 12V during a full day of running around shopping. Killed the battery dead by the end of the day. Never did hold a charge as well after that. Live and learn.Re: Buying a camper in CanadaDoes Washington state class campers as RV's? I've run into something like this in reverse - bought a camper in Arizona and took it back to Canada. The hardest part was convincing Canadian Customs that I didn't have to go through the RV line with all the associated hoops of importing an RV. In Ontario a camper is just cargo and can be included in your purchase exemption for tax payment. All I needed was a bill of sale.Re: Lance 825 vs 865We chose the 825 over the 865 for these reasons: - the large kitchen counter - 2 outside storage compartments - I can put my feet up on the bed step while sitting on that end of the dinette On the other side, my wife laments the lack of a bathroom sink and mirror. Personally, I would have been happy with either model, I'm just happy she said yes to a camper!Re: Lance 825Got ours early 2012, averaging 40 to 50 nights each year since. Weighs right at 2600 lbs also with our stuff and 1/2 water. Truck (3/4 ton) handles it easily with just stableloads. No issues or repairs so far. I did recaulk all the seams after delivery, just for peace of mind. Great unit to travel in, even with 3 adults as we have done occasionally. More outside storage space than most campers. Inside storage is adequate, we have no microwave which helps. The small gray water tank is the biggest limiting factor for us, although we can go up to 4 days between dump/fill if we shower elsewhere. Knowing what we know now, would definitely buy this again. Hope this info helps.Re: Why cant I use ratchet straps for tie downs????Saw a camper at the Quartzsite show the other week that had a ratchet strap tiedown. "A" as in "one". Sure hope it was bolted on somewhere else...it was the only visible attachment.
