All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsCedar Point and MichiganStarting our planning for next year - we’re in RI and are thinking of heading to Cedar Point and somewhere in Michigan as our turn-around point with possible side trips to Football HOF and Rock and Roll HOF - any suggestions for campgrounds out that way? We will probably stay at Lighthouse Point but since it is only open when the park is open and we like to travel in shoulder seasons - looking for recommendations. Thanks!Re: Acadia in September, dinner places? We just got back from a week at Blackwoods CG in Acadia. We ate at Jordan Pond House twice and although the menu is limited we thought it was very good and actually easier to get into at night. We had nice lunches at Testa's and Paddy's in downtown BH. And we always go to Thurston's for a lobster roll. But I think my recommendation is going to be Poor Boy's Gourmet in BH. They had a lot of different lobster dishes and a menu of homemade desserts to end the meal. There were some other possibilities but dress codes ruled us out - dressiest we got was collared shirt and shorts. :)Re: Which route for Loft Mtn CampgroundSorry - pretty new to the forum and haven't created a signature yet. (Guess I'll have to work on that) We are traveling in a Jayco 22FB (so about 26 feet) and have reserved site D88 which by the pictures seemed to be a pretty decent site and I found other reviews that were positive. I suppose that if it isn't we can try to get there early for a first come first serve site. Thanks for your help!Re: Which route for Loft Mtn CampgroundThanks bukhrn! Rockfish it is - and Kettle Korn sounds like a bonus! :)Which route for Loft Mtn CampgroundWe will be coming from the Outer Banks, NC. Is it best to use the Swift Run Gap entrance or the Rockfish Gap entrance? Swift Run appears closer to the campground but Rockfish appears to stay on I-64 longer. Would appreciate thoughts from those of you that have stayed there.Re: East Coast Road Trip - 2015 - Beginning PlanningThanks everyone!! Lots of great info and I will check them all out.East Coast Road Trip - 2015 - Beginning PlanningHello, I am new to the forum but have been a lurker for a while. I've done a lot of searching and have been taking notes but figured I might as well post my specific questions. We are in the beginning planning stages for a road trip in our travel trailer for summer (later August) of 2015. Our initial thoughts are Cape May, NJ > Assateague, MD > Outer Banks, NC > Shenandoah National Park > Home (RI) over a 2 week time period. We will also have our dog with us on this trip. We will probably camp at the National Seashore Campground at Assateague. Does anyone have any site recommendations? Bayside or Oceanside? We are also planning Loft Mountain while in Shenandoah NP Are there any recommendations for Cape May as most that I have found seem to get mixed reviews. Also, what about the Outer Banks? There is a KOA there that gets decent reviews. Last question - what about a stopover for the way home between Shenandoah and RI? We like to stay at 6 hrs or so/day when on a trip like this. Thanks in advance for any help!
