We sold our HTT and while it worked out perfectly for us and the new owners, there was a LOT of cr** to deal with. You get weird responses, people will say they need your home email because...... DON'T, we had one crackpot - probably literally - who lived in Fresno, CA and wanted to know if we would trade our '07 ROO for a '67 "mostly restored" VW.....NO! You will likely get more weird stuff than serious buyers and you absolutely have to be diligent about your personal information regardless of what story they come up with. The young couple that bought ours sent several emails through craigslist until we felt totally comfortable sending some additional pix to their home address. Of course, that meant they had our address, but we used the email on my laptop that had no clue of who or exactly where. They asked us for $500 off our asking price, we met at their bank, we had already talked to their bank manager and knew things were good, closed the deal and THEN they actually stepped inside. They were thrilled! We were delighted that a young family that would take excellent care of it and love it like we did. Just know that there are a lot of weirdos out there and people not in touch with the real world, so caution is the word. You can sell on consignment at various places, but there is a commission. OTOH, if the buyer wants to finance or other special issues, the dealer can handle it. Takes time. Less cr**. Before you let the first person see it, remove all personal items, pictures, anything that will NOT go with the trailer. Detail it to as new condition as you can. Give it a good bath and wax. DO NOT put any perfumed air freshners or such as it can give the idea that you're trying to cover up a mildew smell. Vacuum the upholstery, Pledge the cabinets, wipe down any walls that have a smudge and fix any little 15 minute jobs you've put off. The picture that sold our ROO was of the interior of the refrig. Their thinking was that if the frig is spotless the rest of the trailer is likely the same. Good luck and happy camping again in a couple of years. If it was a 1967 VW bus, you made the wrong call.Re: HEY we need a sticky for our TT pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! cblackard wrote: Just brought this home a couple of weeks ago... They have to move X number of units to keep the doors open, keep their staff productive. I could be wrong - but that's my opinion. After buying in summer peak season, in the future I will only buy in the winter.Re: Trailer Is WinterizedI'm in Ohio and we have trips planned out through late October. Coming from Oklahoma these Ohio days of 80 degree highs and 50 degree lows are wonderful! This is perfect camping weather to us.Re: A Next Generation of Campers Humor BreakThanks for the comments everyone - the boys love playing with their motorhome or as the two year old calls them "Oh-homes" and truth be told I like the toys too. I am quite impressed with how sturdy the toys are. You can't find full metal toys anymore - even the "all metal" tonka trucks of today have a lot of plastic in them. I am sure they will last a lot longer and then hopefully be around for grandkids.A Next Generation of Campers Humor Break So my 4 and 2 year old sons each have a late '70s Tonka Winnebago toy motorhome and love to push them around the house - non stop and much to the chagrin of their mother. Anyway whenever they are done for the night the campers are parked with awnings deployed and doors facing each other that way "the people can have s'mores together" (from the four year old) I guess our camping trips are making an impact. Good night (or day) everyone. chipRe: Hitch Cargo Hauler surgtech56 wrote: Thanks everyone. The 'good idea fairy' is gone on this one. :) You just made me realize I used the wrong fairy in my good idea ferry fairy! I'm done with doing homework while watching tv while surfing the Internet - well at least until next time.Re: Hitch Cargo HaulerIt seems you have made the right decision so I will just briefly add icing on the cake to ensure any lingering thoughts from the good-idea-fairy are put to death. I just picked up my trailer from a fabricator yesterday because he was what? - welding a new custom hitch and bumper on the back of the camper. I had a very nice bike rack and two above average quality adult bike and an above average quality kids 20 inch mountain bike rack on the back of the trailer when we hit the wrong bump and ripped the bumper off and dragged the bikes. Fortunately, we were only a mile from out destination when it happened. We had been on the road for 500 miles when the wrong bump jumped up and got us. The stock bumper welds held ripping two holes in the bumper each the size of a softball. The bike rack, spare and bumper stayed attached to the trailer because I rope cable locked the bikes to the trailer frame. To fix this neat little disaster would have been 275 or so for the same stock bumper and then a who knows how much for labor to have it installed. At this point I would have been back in the same position I was in - weak bumper that would not support a bike rack. I paid 600 to have a custom hitch fabricated and new bumper built and attached. The fabricator warrantied his work to 500 pounds. The point of this ramble is those bolt on hitches will get you through trips - mine did from Utah to Ohio via Texas and then Ohio to Maryland and then the wrong bump caused enough force on the bumper to rip it off. DON'T DO IT
