Champion just brought out a 3000/4000 inverter generator. 50+ lbs 64 decibels. Parallel 2 of them to run two AC units. Looks like they will be about $700 each plus another $80 for the parallel kit. Re: Which roadside assistance is best The best roadside assistance is provided by yourself. Keep your vehicle maintained and at least one spare on hand. Get what you think you need to change a tire and do it in your driveway. Any tool you used, needs to go with you on your trip. Next prepare for damage that could occur with a blowout. Zip ties, and duct tape can help secure anything torn loose. Some battery operated tools can make the process easier. I'm looking at a 5 tool Milwaukee 18v set at Home Depot for $350. Has an impact wrench, angle grinder, sawzall, drill and impact driver. That is a much better investment to me than a roadside plan. Re: Need ideas for stabilizer jack pads. Thank You. I was hesitant about putting them on the internet. I think it is a good enough idea to sell. I'll be carrying some with me when we camp and setting them on the tailgate with a sign. Re: Need ideas for stabilizer jack pads. β βThe first picture shows the two sizes. Ones made with 2x4's the other with 2x6's. That is two sets so enough for four jacks. Re: Need ideas for stabilizer jack pads. Here are the supports I designed. They stack together for storage. I didn't have the stall mat on these yet. Being treated wood I wanted them to dry out before putting the rubber on them. I will also post completed, painted pics. β β Re: Only 1 breaker works in kitchen area . I never owned that brand but several of the older 5th-wheels had the breakers under the step. The step lifted up for access. Re: Need ideas for stabilizer jack pads. Sorry to hear about the family medical issues. I built six more sets. I will have to figure out how to upload photo's to share with everyone else. I have one set that I didn't assemble yet so I can show the piece's with dimensions on them. Re: Proper licensing for heavier 5th-wheel trailers Here is the actual PA wording. Required to operate any combination of vehicles with a gross weight rating of 26,001 pounds or more, where the vehicle(s) being towed is/are in excess of 10,000 pounds. Example: Recreational Vehicle, when the towing vehicle is rated at 11,000 pounds and the vehicle towed is rated at 15,500 pounds (total combination weight of 26,500 pounds). Trailer weight can be over 10,000 as long as the combination doesn't go over 26,000. Proper licensing for heavier 5th-wheel trailers Just took my Pennsylvania Non-commercial Class A test this week. Technically all it would have cost me was the $5 for the permit. After passing I had the option of an additional paper in my wallet for the next 3 years until my current license expired (free) or $46 to get the new class on a new plastic license with my photo. The test consisted of a walk around inspection, a straight line backing test and a drive around the area including Interstate for a few miles, wider surface streets and even a pass through a neighborhood. The instructor mentioned that getting the proper license at this time was a good idea. From what he was told, if you get pulled over for any infraction and do not have the proper license, you will be fined and somebody else with the proper license will need to come get your unit. Or they will tow it. I can't say I agree with the parameters they have set up as to when you need a Class A license. With my old trailer and a 2500 series truck I was under 26K and didn't need the Class A. I bought a 3500 series truck and that put me over 26k. So basically by getting a more capable truck with better brakes, I need a different license. Makes no sense at all. But I guess they need to draw a line somewhere. It would make more sense to choose a trailer length than weight.
