I have heard to many horror stories about back bumpers on RV,sRe: Watkins Glen State Park without a toad.Been there many times. Beautiful place. I would look into renting a car. A 30ft C would be a handful on the roads in the park not to parking lots. Enjoy.Re: Towing in the wind.Good One Stovepipe!!!Re: Front weight transferKnow what you mean. I will recheck the manual but I seem to recall measure before hitching, measure after hitching and split the difference.Front weight transferI just purchased a 2015 Laredo 240MK and have a question on whether all the front end weight should be restored after hitching up. I weighed the truck before picking up the camper and the weights are: Steer axle 3160 Drive axle 2560. Reweighed on way back and the weights are Steer axle 3020, Drive axle 3260, Trailer axle 5060. Truck weight was with me in it and a full fuel tank. Camper had 1/3 tank of water which is what I usually carry. I know I will be adding weight to the camper which increase the tongue weight some. Knowing that should I adjust my bars to transfer more weight to the front? The dealer told me they set WDH hitches so that the TV sits the same as before hitching. I said the Ford manual said to split the difference and they said they never heard of that. I told them to set it so I have 1 inch of squat in the rear and they did. Rig towed perfect on the return trip. ThanksRe: Blue Ox Sway Pro, Anderson or Equalizier ?I just downsized to a TT from 3 fivers and was concerned about how it would handle. Went with a Blue Ox based on good friend with a lot TT travel under his belt. Can not comment on the others but I can say I was amazed how well the rig handled. Even with P tires.Re: How many of you travel alone with a TT?I did it with my fiver while going through a divorce. Have since down sized to a 27ft TT and a F150. Had no problem with either as I always hitched up and backed in alone. My Boston Terrier is a better spotter/guide than the XDW!Re: Good Match? UPDATEUPDATE: Went ahead and purchased the 2014 F150 Ecoboost and Laredo 240MK. Drove up from Ocala to Orange Park to pick up the new unit Friday. Went with a Blue Ox Sway Pro 1000 hitch mainly because of a good friend with 45 years towing under his belt swears by his. Until talking to him I was leaning toward the Reese Dual Cam. Bottom line, that set up towed like a dream. I really felt I'd be hard to please after a couple of fivers with diesel trucks. The Ecoboost with all the torque at low rpm is great. I would say it is as close to "diesel"as a gasser can get. The tow home netted 9.8 mpg MY NUMBERS: weighed the truck at the Cat Scales before leaving. Truck: steer axle 3160 drive axle 2560 total 5720. Did a reweigh when I got back. Steer axle 3020, drive axle 3260, trailer weight 5060, total 11340. Did not have time to reweigh with the bars unhitched but it looks as if I have a good cushion for adding my gear. It had a 1/3 of a tank of fresh water which is what I normally carry. Again, thank you for your responses.Re: Vibration in steering wheeltenbear. Yes I (and my brother both) noticed the tires looked way to new to have 29k on them. That is why I thought possibly they could have been replaced on the Michelin recall. Will check out the dates on Thursday and report back. ThanksRe: Vibration in steering wheelThanks, some good points here. No shimmy, shake, pull etc. Not felt in floorboard. Just a slight but obviously noticeable "buzz" in the steering wheel. Will drive it again Thursday. Thanks again for the help.
