All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsGenerator RepairI have a 27 year old Kohler propane fueled generator in my 1994 MH. It will not start. It would start when cold, run rough for a bit, than smooth out and be fine. However it would not start when warm. Now it won't start at all (I did fiddle with the start/idle mixture screw, but that is what it made it worse, I guess). Does anyone know of a Kohler service/repair place or person in the SE Michigan/Detroit area. I've tried the Kohler website but that seems to be in total denial of ever having anything to do with RV generators. I've also tried a couple of independent places which claim to be able to service Kohler generators with no success. Sure could use some help! Bill Carry, 1994 Georgie Boy Swinger, purchased new, 6.5 turbo diesel, 260,000 odom miles.Door HingesI have a 1994 Georgie Boy Swinger, owned since new. Have about 235000 miles on the odometer. The door hinge spacers are badly worn and the door has sunk relative to the door frame. This makes opening and closing the door difficult due to binding at the sill and misalignement of the lock components. The door Says ALUMAX on the frame. I am not able so far to drive out the hinge pins to try to install washers to restore the door position relative to the frame. Anyone have any experience with this?Re: Whoa, how much to wash my rig again...???Commercial truck washes generally charge abut $1.00 per foot in my experience.Re: Diesel puller class AWe have a 1994 Class A, P-30 with a 6.5 turbo diesel. Bought it new. About five years ago at around 175,000 miles we replaced the engine with an AMG P400 and rebuilt the transmission. Did this as 'preventative' measure to minimize the chances of a serious and expensive breakdown in the middle of nowhere (getting a bit old for major problems on the road). Now have 230,000 miles on the rig. Also rebuilt the front end a while back to correct some wandering, etc. Plan to keep this thing until either it dies or we do. We owned four class As prior to this with Dodge 440 and GM 454 engines. Those all got about 7.5 miles per gallon. The diesel gets 11.5 to 12 MPG. Some noise at idle and low speeds, but can't tell the difference at highway speeds. Would surely do this again, am very happy with the experience.Fresh Water System LeakageI'm experiencing leakage out of the fresh water inlet. I assume there is a check valve in the system to prevent backflow from the water tank to the inlet, perhaps in the pump. Its a SureFlo pump, at least ten years old. For the time being I cap off the inlet when not hooked up and that works. Thanks for any advice.Re: Travel AtlasCamping World is advertising the 2016 version. Just orderd one.Re: P-30 Brake SquealYes, the hoses were replaced as well as the pads, rotors, calipers, fluid, etc.P-30 Brake SquealMy 1994 P30 chassis M/H has always been fussy regarding brake squeal. I bought this M/H new and have over 220,000 miles on it. Found from experience that only Delco (GM) pads would not squeal. Now have a bad squeal from L/R brake coming to stop. Six months ago the pads, rotors, calipers and hoses were replaced in the rear by a very reputable truck shop (I'm getting to creaky to do this stuff myself like I always used to). Recently this bad squeal developed. The shop that did the work last spring replaced the rear pads again. They didn't find anything on the L/R brake suspicious. The squeak is reduced, but still happens. It takes a half hour of stop and go driving to get things hot enough for the noise to occur when coming to a stop. Any thoughts or experiences that might help would sure be appreciated.P-30 Disc Brake SquealRVis 1994 Chevy P-30 with discs all round. Owned since new. Have 220,000 miles on it. First front brake pad replacement @ 71000 miles with name brand aftermarket pads brought on lots of squeal. Someone suggested using only GM/Delco OEM pads. I changed the pads to GM/Delco right away and got rid of the squeal. Replaced the pads with GM/Delco again at 170,000 miles. No squeal. This spring I replaced the pads at 220,000 miles, again with Delco. This time i get the front brake squeal in spades. Anyone know if Delco stopped the OEM compound for these old brakes or any other reason for this problem. I know that the P-30 was famous for front brake squeal but thought I had the problem understood and under control. Would appreciate any shared experience or advice.Re: ramifications of adding a spacer to dual wheelsI'd be sure to check with the vehicle or rear axle asembly maker to make sure that the w;heel bearings are not overloaded due to the additional moment arm of the verticle load.
