If you did what would you say was the percentage of the value that they gave you.Re: Are all Forest River products garbage? No.Re: Just pulled the trigger!Im pulling 7,000lbs with mine, you will be fine.Re: Scam artistWhat happened to my post about Scam artist vs selling to the dealer? You have deleted it? Thanks Bob FearsScam artistI posted my Trailer on rvtrader.com and received an email from a guy who was interested in it. I emailed back with my phone number and ask him to call. He emailed back that he was at "sea" working on a ship, that he wanted to buy it for his dad. He stated that he was willing to buy it sight unseen if it was in "good shape." He instructed me to send my Paypal information, he would send the money, and then have his mover pick it and the title up. I politely declined his offer and ask him if he was a "Nigerian Prince." I sure hope people don't fall for these folks. I also keep receiving calls from companies that want to help me sell it. Ha Ha.Re: NYS trailer inspections Long IslandNo such thing as an honest shop. Move to a state that doesn't require inspection!Re: Camping world transport NJRVer wrote: Do you have any choice on what units you haul? Or are you told "take this to....." They implied to me you had to take a unit even if it was to big for your tv. They said my truck would pull anything even though it has a limit of 9700 lbs per chevy.Re: Is it possible to lease a HD truck? Are you planning on buying a 5th wheel? If not I would not buy diesel. Very high cost over gas around $7000 more, more expensive fuel and upkeep. We bought a new 2012 Chevy 2500hd, 6.0 gas, 3.73 gears extended cab with a long bed in 2012. It is a work truck model but is a great truck. It is rated to pull 9700 lb trailer. If you get the 4.10 gears you can pull up to 14,700 lb 5th wheel. With rebates we got it for 28,000. I know diesels are great but unless you need that extra power I think gas engines will do fine. But everyone has their preferences. Good luck whatever you decide.Camping world transportI applied for a job with CWRV Transport and was approved.Requirements included a 20,000lb 5th wheel hitch, 3/4 truck or larger and much misc. equipment. My truck is a Chevy 2500hd, 6.0 gas, 3.73 gears, 2wd, extended cab with the long bed. Max trailer weight per chevy is 9700lbs. If I had 4.10 gear it would be up to 14,200 fifth wheel. Talking to Them they said oh you would be okay pulling the bigger 5th wheels. GCWR is 16,000lbs. What do you guys think? I know it would pull it but would it be legal if pulled over or weighed at a roadside station. I declined the job because it just doesn't pay enough (avg. about $1.40 a mile loaded). Also away from home to much. Just curious about your thoughts especially if anyone has taken one of these jobs.Re: towing w/ work truck this weekend-need advice jbres wrote: Since I still have not found a used truck to buy yet, I am using a work truck to pull my 27' travel trailer 4 hours away to Lake Cumberland this weekend. It weighs loaded 6,700 pounds. Last time I pulled with this specific truck I was a little confused which gear I should be pulling it in, so I figured I would ask some of you who prob pull with same truck. Its a 2012 Chev 2500HD 6.0 3.73 rear end. I know I should prob have it in the "tow/haul mode", but should I have the shifter in the "D" for drive position where is doesn't like to pull above 55 or should I put in the the "m" manual positon and hit the "+" button to shift it up to 5 or 6 gear. 99% of my trip will be at highway speeds. Thanks! Also, I like to pull between 60 to 65mph. I have the same exact truck and my trailer weights about the same. I use the tow haul mode and have never found it necessary to downshift. If you feel the need to downshift put in the M mode and go down 1 gear. Usually that would 4th or 3rd in the mountains. Try that and see what happens. Also I bought the work truck because it is the best value. I paid roughly 28k for as new 2500hd. Its the best deal around.
