In fact, I run a chain through a tire rim and around the axle springs (only when stored, haha). I always keep 2 on the hitch, 1 on receiver pin and 1 on the ball, even when traveling. Years ago I saw someone at a rest stop with his trailer hitch on the pavement. Apparently, a prankster had pulled his receiver pin for laughs.Re: Hitch locksThought I would pass on an experience I had the other day with a hitch pin lock, the kind that replaces the regular 5/8" hitch pin that goes through the receiver and hitch. We needed to change to a hitch with lower offset but couldn't find the key to the lock. One guy suggested getting a reciprocating saw and cutting it off, but I figured it was hardened steel. So, I got my hammer out. 3 or 4 heavy blows later the pin broke right off at the lock. Took about 30 seconds. As someone said, locks only stop the casual thieves.Need Campground Advice for Maritime ProvincesThis topic has been moved to another forum. You can read it here: 29711668Need Campground Advice for Maritime ProvincesWe're planning a 2 or 3 week camping trip to Canada's eastern provinces. We want to stay in all 3 - Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island. Looking for full hookup campground suggestions and any other tips for doing this. Never camped in Canada.Re: I-70 and I-65 IndianaWhat's going on in Indiana?? Last month we were in Missouri and took I-70 back east through MO, IL, IN and OH. I have to say, it was terrible across Indiana. On top of that, we made the mistake of taking it through downtown Indianapolis (It was a Sunday) instead of the I-465 bypass. I-70 through downtown was worse than terrible! On our way to MO, we took I-90 thru NY, PA, OH and IN. Same thing... I-90 was horrible in Indiana! Somewhere on I-90 the frig door popped open, and stuff spilled all over the place, besides warming up. The WFCO converter mounting screws came loose and it was hanging half out of the cabinet. Fortunately, it was still working. BTW, I keep my speed at 62 or lower.Re: TT Air pressureI also have Goodyear Endurance ST20575R14D tires on my 3,750 GVWR Jayco. I've been thinking about lowering my tire pressure down from 65 psi. My problem is bouncing, especially on concrete interstates. If I subtract 12% to account for hitch weight, I'm down to 3,300, which would be 1,650 per tire. Goodyear's Load/Inflation table for these tires shows 45 psi will carry 1,640 lbs. I'm thinking of going down to 50 lbs to see if that helps on rough roads. For what it's worth, my trailer has a Lippert 3,500 lb single axle. I think these lightweight single axle trailers are prone to bouncing on rough roads. https://www.goodyearrvtires.com/pdfs/rv_inflation.pdfRe: Water holding tank is filling while on city waterI can confirm that water pressure too high in campground can cause a good check valve in water pump to leak water into the fresh water tank, as well as cause toilet to leak water into black water tank. Solution - install a good water pressure regulator, the kind with a gauge. In my case, the campground pressure was running around 100 lbs, but only sometimes.Re: Couldn't get into Bar Harbor ME area this week? We're headed to Maine next week. Staying at Dixon's CG at Cape Neddick for a week then on up to Bass Harbor CG for another week at Acadia. I hear you about canceling and taking Zeke home. We'd be doing the same thing.Re: Not happy with JaycoJust like PC's, RV manufacturers use generic parts. So, the difference in quality comes down to the assembly line. And the assembly line comes down to individual workers - some conscientious, but many are not. This is just my opinion, but my life experience has shown me management, top to bottom, makes the most difference. What sloppy work will management let slide in the interest of profit...Re: wifi booster/antennaI use an Amped SR10000 range extender. It definitely improves the Wi-Fi signal, but that's only part of the problem. More often than not the main problem is the campground's bandwidth. Too many campers trying to stream movies, etc. No amount of boosting is going to help that. My solution for that is a Netgear AirCard and a 20GB data plan. I'm a software developer and need access for work. I usually have enough data left over to watch a few movies on Netflix.
