However the National Forest campground guide describes the paved section of road as very rough followed by a gravel section. My question is can anyone give me first hand recent information? Is the road doable with my 30 ft FW? Thanks in advanceRoutes through MontanaThis summer we will be heading West from Roosevelt NP in N. Dakota to Northern Idaho. To help determine our route I am looking for comments, suggestions, places to see, CGs, etc, on the following choices: 1) US RT 2 to Kalispell 2) RT 200 through Great Falls to Missoula 3) Rt 12 from Forsyth, to Helena, to Missoula 4) I94 through to Idaho We are not planning at stopping at Yellowstone or Glacier as we were there last summer. Any suggestions on hikes, bike trails or places to kayak would also be helpful. Thanks you all in advanceRe: preparing for AlaskaOur trip last summer was from Maine to Ogdensburg NY then into Canada to Alaska. One thing to do is to check if your credit card charges a foreign transaction fee when used in Canada this can be 3% to 5%. We found a Capital One card that does not charge a fee. We did carry a 2nd spare tire on a rim for the FW as these sizes are not always available some places. Also two 5 gal gas cans, many tools, extra bulbs for RV and TV, air pumps, jacks, water containers. Be sure to get the Mile Post and Alaska Camping Guide by Mike and Terri Church. Both cover roads and campgrounds in Northern BC, The Yukon and Alaska. If you have questions about cg or anything else email me.Have a great trip.Re: Whats the truth? What % of nights spent where?2013 trip 129 day Maine to Alaska, Colorado, and back to Maine: State, National, and Provincial Parks 69 nights, Private CG 53 nights, Wallyworld 7 nights. We prefer more time in public CG as they usually have more space and are closer to the outdoor activities we enjoy. The private CG number would have been much lower if we were not visiting family and had to stay nearby in private CGs.Best way through Colorado SpringsI need to go from Garden of The Gods CG near US 24 West of Colorado Springs to Limon and I 70. The problem is that we need to leave around 7:30am during rush hour on a Tuesday. So what is the best way to get through or around Colorado Springs. I am towing a 30ft FW. Thanks in advance.Re: On the Road with "Roll Call Alaska 2013"......Just returned from 7 nights at Teklanika CG in Denali. If you can get reservations do it. Very nice camping. The best deal was the Tek bus pass which lets you ride the shuttle for as long as you are at the CG for the price of a one day shuttle pass. First day we saw 13 grizzlies and Mt McKinley. Later on more wildlife and great hiking. Heading to Trapper Creek, Palmer then the Kenai on Wednesday 7/10.Re: On the Road with "Roll Call Alaska 2013"......Currently in Fairbanks at Rivers Edge site C3 will be here till Thursday 6/27. Then on to Denali.Re: On the Road with "Roll Call Alaska 2013"......In Whitehorse at High Country RV park. The drive from Summit Lake Provincial Pk to Watson Lake was great, 13 black bear, elk, bison, stone sheep, caribou, moose and more. Heading to Kluane Lake Friday. Have not yet meet any Roll Call travelers.
