If your weight of the truck with you and a full tank of gas in it is 5460lbs then you have 3340lbs of payload available till you are over the gvwr. I weight out at around 6000lbs depending on fuel load and I have a vanguard 96t which is 9.6 feet. I have not weighed it. I have seen a couple times on the internet that these campers weigh about 2000lbs. I would take that with a grain of salt. When I load the camper, the rear springs only sag about 1 inch. Most people on here think of new campers. A new camper in the 9 foot range would be way too heavy for our trucks. Also our trucks are a lot lighter then a more modern truck as well.Re: PCV valve on a diesel ???It is on the drivers side rocker cover under the intake hose. On the 7.3 it is called the crank case vent (ccv). It is a larger box that is held down with 2 screws with a short hose that goes to the intake pipe. Re: Portable vs On Board Air Compressor?Check out this site for information on larger 12 volt air compressors that are designed to fill tires and even run air tools. http://expeditionportal.com/overland-journal-air-compressor-test/Re: 1996 Ford F250 camper- Long post...I would not worry too much on that weight. For the 1996 F250 and F350 there were very few differences. The F350 had a Dana 60 front axle and the F250 have the Dana 50. The F250 actually has stiffer front springs. The other difference was the brakes. The F350 had hydraboost brakes where the F250 has vacuum assist. I have a 1997 F250hd with a Vanguard 9.6 hard side. I don't know how much it weighs but ready to camp it only squats about 1.5 inches. Sounds like your rear springs maybe a little weak. I would upgrade the rear springs or go with airbags.Re: Seeking recommendations - OntarioCheck out tippers family campground. It is on the skottamatta river with river front sites. It is right on hwy 7 just outside of the town of tweed. It is the exactly the type of town you mentioned and there are a number of small towns within a 10 min drive or so.Re: Differences in owing 1t vs 3/4t pickup in Ontario? In Ontario all trucks are commercial vehicles. That is why the have the black and white licence plate. It does not matter if you have the personal use sticker on or not. Trucks under a gross vehicle weight of 4500kg do not require an annual safety. If you are planning on towing you will need to look at the combined weight of both the truck and trailer. If the actual combined weight is over 4500kg or the combined gross vehicle weight is over 4500kg then you require a yearly safety on the truck and any non rv trailer that you tow.Re: Registering a truck camperNo. You don't need to register them in Ontario. To them it is just cargo in the back of the truck.Re: Truck Camper for F-250I would double check with your local ministry of transportation when looking for a f350 or higher truck. In my area I just paid $140 for my yearly sticker. That is for 4000kg (8818 lbs) gvw. If I had gone with the f350 I would have paid $170 but I would have to have the truck saftied yearly at a cost of about $100 and now that the truck has a yellow safety sticker all trailers must be saftied yearly as well at a cost of about $100 each. So grand total of $670 per year if they don't find anything wrong during the safety. They may cost about the same to buy but they can be very different cost to operate. In my case my f250 handles my camper very easily without any mods. Of course being and older truck and camper both are built lighter.Re: 7.3 Cam Position Sensor Part NumberThe CPS that you bought will work fine for you. The one that you have now is a light grey one that was installed in all 7.3 engines as part of the recall.Re: Ontario waterside rvingAnother one to consider is Tippers family campground in tweed. It is a small campground on the skootamatta river. You can have sites right on the river. http://www.tippersfamilycampground.com/index.htm
