Thats what I was always told No. You need better references. OK, but, does Cold Hot water freeze faster than Cold Cold water? dangloRemote switch to turn off inverterI have a 1000 watt inverter that I use to power TV, etc. I have a dedicated 110 volt outlet wired to the inverter. I want to be able to turn it off without going outside and manually pressing the power button (it is in a storage bin). I am willing to rewire (bigger wire) and move the inverter to a location that I could reach through the laundry chute from inside but I belive I should be able to wire in a relay to break the positive cable from the battery to the inverter. If I use a remote switch to turn the inverter off and on I would like to minimize power consumed by the switch itself. I am not trying to switch from DC to AC with this switch, just remotely turn the inverter on and off. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks, dangloRe: RESOLVED: See last post: What is using my internet?Well, thank you all for your suggestions and comments. The problem seems to be gone and I have a two day supply of data allowance to last me 25 days. After running Windows Defender which found and removed a medium nasty critter called: hacktool: Win32/keydump which didn't solve the problem, I restored to a November restore point and have spent the rest of the day re-installing MS updates and I am no longer loosing my data allowance unless I am actively on the internet. Thanks again, dangloRe: RESOLVED: See last post: What is using my internet? SolidAxleDurango wrote: danglo wrote: SolidAxleDurango wrote: danglo wrote: It isn't program updates, but thanks. Perhaps try choosing Safe Mode with networking option and see if the data usage goes down... The reason for Safe Mode is that in Safe Mode ONLY ESSENTIAL software and drivers are loaded. You will need the additional Networking drivers to access the network card (provided you are using the built in network card). This may or may not work with Wifi or other USB dongles though. I would however suggest taking a look for failed Windows updates. Two weeks ago I had a XP windows update fail and it spiked my processor at 50% usage on one of the SCVHOST.exe files for two days. I have my updates set to notify but do not download unless I decide to. My thought is you have a failed Windows update trying to connect to MS update server or you have a keylogger/malware/password stealer/adware/virus software which was not detected by your scans (you DID run your scans in Safe Mode?) basically making your PC a zombie... Alternately some folks have had "issues" with their WiFi hot spot it's self gobbling up data for no apparent reason and the fix was to have the service provider replace the Hot spot... Thanks for all the suggestions. I did not scan while in safe mode. I might try that. My wifi router is not the problem as I have connected my desktop directly to the hughesnet modem and the same problem existed. thanks, dangloRe: RESOLVED: See last post: What is using my internet? Click the Applications tab to view data usage by apps. 1492: thanks. I downloaded networx but I don't seem to have an applications tab on the usage page. Is it because it is not available on XP systems? thanks, dangloRe: RESOLVED: See last post: What is using my internet?I thought I posted my OS is XP. I didn't mention that the transmit and receive packets appear to be the same and the usage is continuous, as though something is just receiving data from outside then re-transmitting it. dangloRe: RESOLVED: See last post: What is using my internet? It isn't program updates, but thanks.
